Don't feel stressed or guilty over too many desserts. Amazing New Cure! - 11/28/08 09:26 AM
OK, TURKEYS! NO NEED TO FEEL GUILTY OVER TOO MANY DESSERTS! (I was hoping this color was 'pumpkin' as in PIE.)

"Why???" you say, "I feel like the Fruitcake Lady is my Grandmother.  I feel like Rosie O'Donnell after an evening at the Buffet!"
The answer is simple, I say! I read it yesterday in the newspaper. Things aren't always what they seem!

STRESSED IS "D-E-S-S-E-R-T-S" SPELLED BACKWARDS! The article also goes on to say to only worry about the things over which you have some control!  My suggestion - give yourself the one day to pig-out, guilt … (6 comments)

It's the Backyard Brawl, Y'all. The two major universities in South Carolina fight it out this weekend! - 11/26/08 11:05 AM
THANKSGIVING WEEK IN SOUTH CAROLINA! First and foremost, Happy Thanksgiving to your and yours. We are so blessed to live in such a wonderful country and state! Thank God!
AND NOW, GET YOUR GAME ON! IT'S HERE! Yes, this week is Rivalry Week! The Palmetto Bowl! The Backyard Brawl, Y'all! Clemson University vs. The University of South Carolina. Go Team!!! The saying is, "If you're not from here you can't understand it." I disagree. I think people catch on pretty fast. On this Saturday you're for one or the other, you can't be for both!
This rivalry has seen it ALL. … (4 comments)

Fix and Hold Strategy? Excel Rental Analysis Spreadsheet to share - when you give a Toy to a Tot! - 11/25/08 08:11 AM
Thanks to Michael Russell and his blog on the topic of "Fixing and Holding,' instead of fixing and flipping.
In a nutshell, in today's real estate market more investors have the opportunity of fixing, holding and renting.  And selling later.
I thought of this nifty Excel Rental Analysis Spreadsheet that I picked up in a class, and I'm willing to share it with you if you will promise to donate a Toy for Tots this holiday season.
That little bit of an idea was inspired by a report I heard on the radio this morning, where police in some city are giving Toys for Tots … (4 comments)

This Morning I Had to Fire a Friend! Social Networking gone wrong! - 11/24/08 08:25 AM

You're Fired!

Saying goodbye to an old friend (that I met over the weekend). Just the facts, mam. He had the same name as me, was from another country far far away. (I thought it would be cool to make a buddy with the same name.) He was a great guy. (Chap, bloke, buddy, whatever they call it where he is.) We were dear friends and got along swimmingly. (Alas, it was only to be a weekend friendship!) This happened on Facebook. (Where they have something called "The Wall," Not Pink Floyd style, but a place where people … (20 comments)

Would someone explain the virtue of a "Member's Only" post? - 11/21/08 03:06 PM
? Still being sort of new here I have a lot of questions. Here's one I've been wrestling with for a while.
It may be a silly question, but why do a post that is "Member's Only?" Case In Point I was invited to participate in a "MeMe" (ActiveRain for something about me) this week, which I enjoyed doing. Here's My MeMe! I decided to just 'blog it out there' for God and everybody to see.
A MeMe seems to be an automatic classification to "Members Only" for the overwhelming majority of 'Rainers.' But why? Wouldn't that be a fantastic way … (66 comments)

The absolute worst music ever, ever, ever, ever, ever! Cover your ears children! - 11/20/08 03:12 PM
Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!!! I get to play D.J. What's this all about? Check it out! http://activerain.com/blogsview/798538/WERE-BACK-unInspired-by-Song-Contest-Announcement-November-2008
Well they asked for it! They may not be judged the worst, but at least they'll be among the first! Having been a d.j. for 11 years or so, this is like coming home! I love it!
BUT! The first rule of radio: RESPECT THE MUSIC! So let me say first off, I know somewhere in the world, somebody is gonna see my selections as the WORST MUSIC EVER! and will be offended! l want to say that I understand this, and … (19 comments)

Business Planning for '09, What's your game plan? - 11/20/08 11:29 AM
A few weeks ago Greg Gorman challenged those of us in the group "Bright Ideas" to share our best business strategies and thinking for 2009. He set up this scenario, "OK, it's the fourth quarter, the team is behind, the markets are down, stocks are tanking, companies are failing, what are you going to do for a Divine '09?" That's the best of my recollection, but you get the gist. I put this on the back burner for a while and let some ideas simmer and today feel inspired to share what I've been mulling over. I suppose this could apply … (10 comments)

The Four Words that are the key to a Happy Marriage. Read on! - 11/19/08 10:32 AM
Greg Gorman from Naples, FL tagged me for this "MeMe."
Here is the way it works:
Grab the nearest book. Open the book to page 56. Find the fifth sentence. Post the text of the next two to five sentences. Don't dig for your favorite book, the cool book or the intellectual one. Pick the Closest. Tag five people to do the same *The one book that this can not be is the Bible*
Well this was the first thing I saw this morning when I was having coffee at our kitchen table and I replied back to Greg "This will … (26 comments)

How I connected with customers on the Internet last night! - 11/14/08 09:17 AM

A newbie to social networking Having been in the 'rain' actively for only about 4 months, I have seen sooooo much information that it is almost overwhelming. There are 36 blogs that are bookmarked for me to go back and review that have creative ideas and tips and things to implement into the business of selling real estate. But this last two weeks I've ventured out into a new world, at least for me. "Social Networking." Join me, link to me, invite me, be my friend at:

Positively Good News to share today. I've got gas! - 11/13/08 10:03 AM
The best good news in a while:  Gas at $1.92 a gallon!  I heard this piece of welcome news this morning in the dentist chair from Judith, a wonderful hygienist.  This sure beats the daylights out of paying $65 to fill up!

Remember back in September when gas was $4 and up a gallon and we were all wondering what in the world was going on?  Hurricane Ike was headed for Texas and possibly the refineries.  Gee, thanks hedge fund operators; you put an unnecessary hurting on everyone who buys gas!
Post from 9/12/08 on Gas Prices and Gouging

I'm Mad As You Know What - And, I'm not gonna take it anymore! - 11/10/08 11:01 AM
Dear Helpdesk,
Does anybody know how to put an end to these confounded unwanted faxes???? We used to get a couple a month, and I was OK with that because it showed that the fax connection was working. But now, we're getting several a week, usually selling insurance or vacations, and I've had enough! Toner and paper aren't cheap!
Make it stop!!!!!!!!!!!!! Any suggestions? The fax line is already on the 'Do not call list.' It takes too long to research and call the people back and request that they cease and desist. I'd even entertain calling them back at 3:00am, … (21 comments)

You're so Vain, I bet you think this post is about you, don't you, don't you, don't you! - 11/06/08 04:36 PM
"Did you ever notice?"
"Did you ever notice how the pictures that Real Estate Agents put on their business cards and blogs and all of their other publicity don't look a darn thing like the Real Estate Agents that want to list your house? It really bugs me, because if they're not honest with themselves and with you when they show you their pictures, what else are they hiding? Did you ever notice this? I have...." Actually, I have noticed and because of this, and with a nod to truth in advertising I am going with a new picture. Here … (49 comments)

"Social Networking" sites, which ones and why? - 11/03/08 12:06 PM
Two questions that have been on my mind since about last Thursday when I was invited to LinkedIn.  What are your favorite sites for social networking and better yet for "SOCIAL MARKETING"? I guess my 'smoking gun question' is what sites do you use and how do you use them?

I signed up with facebook and within a couple of hours was connected with two friends from back in grammar school, two college age children of a couple that are very good friends of ours, several alums from my alma mater living in our area (including a basketball player that was a star there), and of … (25 comments)
