WordPress FOR DUMMIES - 05/30/08 08:09 AM
I bought it. I'm reading it. ColumbusBestBlog.com (my other blog) is not going to have this "DUMMY" to kick around anymore. I had a gift card for Barnes and Noble and it was priced at 30% off. I could not resist it. WordPress for Dummies by Lisa Sabin-Wilson Anyone read it? Last Dummies book I purchased was about html...HTML 4 FOR DUMMIES the only Dummies book I have ever NOT enjoyed reading. I use it as a reference book, when I have to but I have enjoyed reading a couple of Dummies books cover to cover in the past, about computers. (40 comments)
"Did you mean Columbus + NEAR?" - 05/28/08 06:50 AM
I was not surfing the web yesterday. I had not heard the news. I missed the announcement that the lawsuit against NAR (National Association of Realtors) by the DOJ (Department of Justice) is over... After posting an entry I "Googled" for Columbus + NAR to see if ALL of the local real estate bloggers scooped me. Google asked: Did you mean: Columbus + NEAR National Association of Realtors 5 minutes ago by Maureen McCabe The DOJ (Department of Justice) had a lawsuit against NAR (National Association of Realtors) for years. CNN (is that Cable News Network?) Money says the DOJ lawsuit (10 comments)

ActiveRain Hate Speech Poll - 05/23/08 07:20 AM
Leadership requires decisiveness on gray issues (Members Only) by Jonathan Washburn A member was banned from ActiveRain for what some consider "hate speech." Others say "it was not that bad." Read Jonathan's post if you want to know what the phrase was. If you need another view of the debate use search ActiveRain for two examples of posts with another point of view: A DARK DAY ON ACTIVE RAIN The stench of hypocrisy on AR "A Dark Day on Active Rain was originally titled "Active Rain Hates Christians" or something similar, the first answer in the poll comes from that title. ActiveRain Week in Review for 5/11/08 to 5/18/08 - 05/19/08 04:03 AM
It is my privilege to present you with the ActiveRain Week in Review for 5/11/08 to 5/18/08. I would like to thank Neal "The Real Deal" Bloom for allowing me to take on this task.I personally enjoy reading blogs about blogging and social networking....but I tried to take a broader view reading all of the offerings on ActiveRain this week. I read way more of ActiveRain than usual this week. There is a lot of noise on ActiveRain but you can still find some creative conversations or creative conversations just waiting to happen, if you look for them... so without further (43 comments)
"Your post has been removed from the ActiveRain group...." - 05/16/08 05:59 AM
boo hoo... I got removed from a group. I got an email from ActiveRain that said: "Your post 'Real Living - Just Say NO to comment spam' has been removed from the group 'RealLiving' by an administrator/moderator. You should either review the guidelines for the group or contact this person if you have any questions." Wait I removed the 'Real Living - Just Say NO to comment spam' post from the Real Living Group myself... I am the moderator / administrator / founder.... or one of the moderators of the Real Living group. I rewrote it and was having trouble with (21 comments)
Kool-Aid what's your favorite real estate flavor? - 05/11/08 07:08 AM
From Kraft Foods ...Kraft Foods owns the Kool-Aid Man who has his own website: "NAME: KOOL-AID ManHEIGHT: 8' tall and 5' wideFUN FACT: I have 3 ice cubes in my head" Is there a rule in real estate blogging about not pitching your company? Why RE/MAX? a comment: "Easy Ken... that RE/MAX kool-aid is dangerous. You've broken the biggest blog rule by pitching yourself and your company. RE/MAX is just one way of doing (37 comments)

The innate evilness of recipes on ActiveRain - 05/04/08 07:57 AM
I was surprised that recipes rated as high as they did in a poll about what should be outlawed on ActiveRain. ActiveRain ought to have a law against posting....Recipes now have 27 votes or 19.15% of the vote in the very unscientific poll. Now before any doofus starts whining, ranting or screaming about censorship, I personally have no problem with recipes on ActiveRain. I don't believe I have ever posted one but here goes.... From HER Realtors Cookbook Number .... No I can't do it. I have a degree in Home Economics (no cooking or sewing involved) and worry about being pigeonholed. Do (41 comments)
ActiveRain - Localism Monopoly - 05/03/08 06:15 AM
What if I could divide up my ActiveRain points and become featured agent in Dublin, Grandview, Lewis Center, Powell, Upper Arlington, Westerville and Worthington... and still be number one in Columbus? Heck maybe I should not even stop there... what about Delaware, Hilliard, Gahanna and New Albany as well? I just threw Grandview Heights in at the last minute I realized for a mere 101 points I can be number one in Grandview Heights, a lovely community. I have over 300K ActiveRain points right now... Featured - All I'd lose my place on this list but who cares about that ... Real (33 comments)
Happy Birthday to you Happy birthday to you Happy Birthday dear SPAAAAAM Happy Birthday to you! e-mail SPAM that is. When I saw this via Darren Rowse on Twitter. Happy Birthday to e-mail SPAM I thought of the meat from Hormel first when I saw SPAM was having a birthday but I think the meat is from WWII. I primarily use three mailboxes / addresses. The primary address the SPAM filter usually catches anywhere from 300 to 500 emails but this week on Tuesday there were over 1100 SPAM messages caught. There's two other mail boxes.... one does not get any spam... the other is a nightmare, not as much as (26 comments)
