I got to preview the LOST EGYPT exhibit which opened today at COSI on Thursday. I skipped school (a real estate class I have gone to on Thursday mornings) to be at the preview of this World Premiere Exhibit.
The special exhibit at COSI opened today and runs through September 7, 2009.
COSI’s LOST EGYPT blog on the COSI website gives lots of behind the scenes info on this world premiere event in Columbus.

"Location, location, location" is one of the best descriptions of the Worthingway neighborhood in Worthington Ohio . I've anchored the Google map here on Masefield Street the farthest west street in Worthingway. The south end of the Worthingway neighborhood is Highgate which backs to Medick Estates.
Worthingway is a pretty location. Tucked back off of High Street but a lot of the appeal of the neighborhood that was built in the 1960's has for buyers and long term owners is the convenience to schools, Old Worthington, parks, the bike path and more.

Brookside Woods homes are in the Worthington School District... unless of course they are in the Dublin School District.
The school districts were minding their own business... the land was sitting there... or maybe there was corn or soybeans planted there... I did not move to the area until 1990, I am assuming that northwest Columbus area was rural in the late 70's... early 1980's... Brookside Woods is not the only City of Columbus neighborhood along Snouffer Road that some homes are in Dublin schools, other homes are in the Worthington school district.

I went to WordCamp Columbus Satuday.... they weren't so much letters from camp as they were tweets #wccbus.
There were lots of tweets after thanking @wyliemac and @blantonious for organizing the first WordCamp Columbus. @wyliemac and @blantonious actually go by Alvin Borromeo and Jason Blanton in real life.
There were tweets during WordCamp though too, letters home from camp.

Old Worthington is applying to be on the National Register of Historic Places as a historic district. Again.
This Week Community News has the story, Old Worthington applies to join list of national historic districts. According to the newspaper article written by This Week News staff writer, Candy Brooks a 1999 effort to get Old Worthington on the list was denied because structures already on the list were included in the application.
Most people are surprised that Old Worthington is not a historic district listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Yet Worthington home to Rush Creek Village has a large neighborhood of mid-century modern homes. The homes in Rush Creek Village were built in the Usonian style reminiscent of Frank Lloyd Wright. I believe I have always said "Davis Estates" rather than "Estate."
I remember an agent listing a house in Davis Estate (or is it Davis Estates?) as Colonial Hills West back in the 1990's.

The Neighborhoods list on City of Worthington website "About" page calls the neighborhood "Davis Estate" and lists the year as 1926. That must be the year the Davis Estate neighborhood was platted. Not a big Madonna fan? Me either but when I read the chart about the First Time Home Buyer Tax Credit the song starts playing in my head. You know the old song I am referring to though don't you? 1984? Wow 25 years ago...

Buying a home should not be scary for first time home buyers or others....
Long ago it was customary for all agents in a transaction to represent the sellers.
In Ohio at the first appointment you should be provided with an Agency Guide to Relationships by the real estate agent. It provides their brokerages agency policy.
It is a disclosure.
If you contact the listing agent, you know of course that they are representing the seller. No surprise there, right? If you visit a builder the builders representative is looking out for the builder's interest.

Single buyers with incomes up to $75,000 and married couples with incomes up to $150,000 are eligible to receive the maximum tax credit.

Real Living's Advice to Buyers on Open Houses includes this question:
Q: I've heard that visiting an open house without my buyer's agent means s/he can't represent me in my home purchase. Is that true?
A: Perhaps.
Understand that Real Living is a company with brokerages from the east coast to the west coast and one size does not fit all. Laws vary state to state and customs vary market to market.

In this age of TARP (toxic asset something or other) and other new acronyms creeping into jargon each day, is it becoming harder and harder to talk to one another?
I was using BPO in a conversation with a past client recently... more than once. He had to ask. Mea Culpa (forgive me.)

Columbus is one of the 161 cities in Zillow's Index, of course. Spencer Rascoff of Zillow wrote of the ZHVI (Zillow Home Value Index): Sorry to spoil the party, but we're not at the bottom!
... Zillow is not yet calling the bottom of the home price drop.
Zillow is different than the numbers that Realtor.com, the Ohio Association of Realtors, Columbus Board of Realtors or really anyone else put out. Those are based on home sales. The Zillow Home Value Index is based on ALL homes. Well almost all.

It's all over the national and local news, it's all the buzz on Twitter... sounds like business is up at emergency rooms, clinics, doctors offices.
Remember you can't get Swine Flu from eating pork...

The name is being change from Swine Flu to H1N1 Flu.
You can't catch this flu from eating pork... no matter what it's name is.
There is still only one confirmed case of Swine Flu in Ohio? or two on an official map from the World Health Organization. The local news says there are suspected cases in Franklin and Union County. People are flocking to emergency rooms in Central Ohio, or so last nights local news made it seem.
I probably would NOT have noticed these White Castle Commercials if not for the news being Swine Flu all of the time. … (10 comments)
