The hottest new real estate social network is... 2009
RealSeekr is going to be the next big thing... or could be the next big real estate social network, "if they get the same kind of community active rain has now"

Joey Marino an ActiveRain member commented on one of my ActiveRain posts:
"As far as new sites go, I think www.RealSeekr.com @realseekr has a good chance of doing well if they get the same kind of community active rain has now. They haven't released the blog yet, but I believe it's coming up very soon and I'll be interested … (13 comments)

activerain: They're back - 08/31/09 11:27 PM
The aliens are back and and they seem to be on a schedule.

Three Four of those odd little spam comments that I've reported this morning were all on posts that had a similar bit of nonsense that was left on August 11, 2009.
Jay Thompson, Caleb Mardini and Glenda Cherry all three have a post with two spam comments, one left August 11 and another left today, September 1, 2009.
Mary McKnight's post is number 4, again an August 11 nonsense comment and a September 1 comment.
Remember if it is on your post "Report a Concern" don't just … (12 comments)

Localism - A Neighboripedia - It's a small world after all - Mpumalanga

Lenn mentioned the travel bloggers on ActiveRain a week or so ago.
I posted something about Ohio schools this morning so went to Ohio on Localism to make sure it looked OK.  It had not reached Localism yet but the top post there caught my eye.  I am sure Mpumalanga is a lovely spot...
I am sure Travelchacha is a great company but it is an India Travel company squatting on ActiveRain in Illinois posting content about travel to South Africa.
I flagged it an … (42 comments)

activerain: ActiveRain's heir apparent... "if" - 08/24/09 02:21 AM
ActiveRain's heir apparent "if it gets the same kind of community."
Congrats to ActiveRain for making the list in the September 2009 issue of REALTOR Magazine. The next big real estate network? Is it RealSeekr.com ???
I am an ActiveRain supporter. I don't really believe there is a successor on the horizon.
What real estate networking site is going to replace ActiveRain because blogging to the public is free for everyone? Or because the site is better? Who or what is the network whose succession to a position of prominence in the RE blogosphere is extremely likely?

activerain: If I ignore you will you go away? - 08/19/09 12:22 AM

I am not a fan of "Great Post thanks for sharing" comments.  That's no secret.
If I ignore you will you go away?
The absolute worst excuse for real estate blogging on ActiveRain IMHO used to leave a comment on my latest post every day.  It took a long time but I broke her of that habit.
I am sure the absolute worst excuse for real estate blogging is a wonderful person. She is probably a great real estate agent ... a great wife and mother....
She is NOT a good blogger.  I don't want my local posts used … (14 comments)

activerain: ActiveRain loves Redfin - 08/10/09 05:55 AM
"AR and Redfin sitting in a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-g... first comes love then comes marriage... then comes Redfin with the baby carriage...."
Do you believe ActiveRain, Inman and 60 Minutes (the TV show)  love Redfin more than they love REALTORS®?  Does that make you feel down?   Excuse the childish taunt....  I could not help but chime in.  On Matt Goyer of Redfin's post "How Redfin Listens to Our Customers - Inman Connect    one of the first comments on Matt's post  from Darin a loan officer  with One Source Mortgage, LLC in Wisconsin:

activerain: No cankles here - Who's Amung Us - 08/08/09 09:31 AM

Look at those ankles... Those are Jon Zolsky's ankles.
No cankles there.
I never knew what a cankle was until someone shared it on Jon Zolsky's recent post in a comment.  Or 2.
I can not tell you what was said in his post or in the comments about cankles because  it is against ActiveRain guidelines.
Really
Jon's post is members only...

activerain: ActiveRain as a game BINGO! - 08/04/09 12:24 AM

B-I-N-G-O
Bingo is un-gameable...
We went to Sister Bernie's Bingo Bash at the Dublin Irish Festival last weekend.
"Sister Bernie had the hottest bingo game in town until she discovers her bingo board mysteriously broken. Never losing hope she enlists Father Martini and Sister Cherisse to help organize a traveling bingo game ... and so begins this delightful disaster!!"

activerain: Localism - "Your Blogging Sucks" - 07/31/09 12:33 AM

Headline on Localism - "Your Blogging Sucks. How to Fix it."
The locals are blogging?  The locals blogging sucks?  Is this vendor ActiveRain / Localism member talking to Mommy Bloggers in a particular market or the local political bloggers?  Or the local sports bloggers? We have lots of Mommy bloggers, political blogger and sports bloggers in Central Ohio... talking to bloggers is NOT necessarily a bad thing.  Bloggers comment back. Bloggers like the attention.  Well maybe not if you are saying their blogging sucks.

activerain: ActiveRain or e-PRO Certification or both? - 07/30/09 12:20 AM
ActiveRain or e-PRO® or both?  ...or none of it? I guess that is an option too.
I got the e-PRO® Certification back in 2004 or 2005.  They'd updated the course after I took it to include social media....  I believe the current version is at least the second version since I took the course.

activerain: ActiveRain / AddictiveRain Coincidence? - 07/27/09 12:27 AM
Look at the spelling ActiveRain / AddictiveRain...
Add in "ddi" to ActiveRain and you get AddictiveRain.  Unless you wedge the "ddi"  in somewhere other than after the A... you could get ActiveddiRain or ActiveRaddiin or any number of gibberish words which make no sense at all....
ActiveRain / AddictiveRain...Merely a coincidence? You be the judge.
ActiveRain is NOT the only real estate network...  but it is different.

activerain: Puppet Show on ActiveRain - 07/26/09 02:40 PM
The comment of the evening is:
"I liked your post on this particular topic. I look forward to more rain from you."
That's kinda catchy isn't it?
I was comment stalking someone this evening....  It is not the first time.
You can comment stalk me here: My comments
That leads you to part of the puppet show.
The member I was comment stalking said "I liked your post on this particular topic. I look forward to more rain from you."  over and over no matter what the post was about.
I added a little something extra to it … (9 comments)

activerain: don't be shy... How does YOUR ActiveRain profile look? - 07/25/09 12:22 AM
I like blogging, I like social media.... I hate filling out profiles.
Do you want to know a secret?  Do you promise not to tell?  I filled out my ActiveRain profile in 2006 and I have not made many changes since.  Google is probably bored with it I think I will try to make some changes to mine...
Welcoming new members in Ohio as an ActiveRain ambassador I have noticed a number of members profiles that still say   "Use this section to write about yourself - don't be shy"

Don't be shy

activerain: Dear Miss Manners; ActiveRain Re-Blog etiquette - 07/22/09 09:17 AM

This is an etiquette question about Re-Blogging. Not so much about Re-Blogging content written peer to peer but the stuff written to the general public... the hyperlocal stuff that goes to Localism and our Outside blogs.... and gives us Google juice.

As Miss Manners is not an ActiveRain member maybe Brad Andersohn or Jeremy Blanton or Bob Stewart ... or someone at ActiveRain can answer this etiquette question.
I probably can find the answer by re-watching the webinar of the very first Ambassador training with all the top secret info....I probably will go back and look to see if … (10 comments)

I did not know not to delete the spam comments on my blog.  I have been hitting report a concern and then deleting comments on my blog all along.  I think I read Bob Stewart's comment this morning after I deleted the spam that had accumulated overnight.
I blocked outside comments last night but I still had a few spam comments this morning... does that mean some of the spammers are members? I've racked up lots of points reporting spam comments on … (18 comments)

activerain: ActiveRain's got gas.... - 07/05/09 04:49 AM
Lenn compared Google links on ActiveRain, Inman, Realtor.com, Zillow, etc.
ActiveRain losing gas? By what measurement?
Lenn is comparing Google Backlinks and Pages Indexed...
Traffic
I can't help comparing traffic but if you put huge sites like Realtor.com and Zillow in it makes ActiveRain look dinky... but I am comparing to Inman.com and to Realtown.com another social network for the real estate industry with blogs. Realtown is older than ActiveRain.com

activerain: SPAM Points - the easiest points on ActiveRain - 06/30/09 11:15 PM

Report Spam when you see it on your blog, another members blog, an abandoned blog.  Don't worry about whether they could or will report the spam themselves....
Just do it.
It is so easy to do.
Click "Report a Concern" at the bottom right on the comment.  It is just left of the time the comment is left if you hover there it will appear.  ActiveRain does the rest. Sometimes but not always  a pop up opens up so it takes a second click.

"Are you sure you want to report this comment?"
You betcha.
The pop up  tells … (64 comments)

activerain: ActiveRain is AN answer in Social Networking Quiz from NAR - 06/29/09 01:38 AM
ActiveRain is an answer to at least one question but is ActiveRain the right answer?
I love quizes...  I found this one via ActiveRain (more about that below.)
QUIZ: USING SOCIAL NETWORKING FOR BUSINESS
Facebook has lots of quizes.  I have to try really, really hard on Facebook NOT to do quizes... I don't really like Facebook much.... but they've got quizes.   I belive I have only taken two.... I know which Mutant Ninja Turtle I am but I am NOT sure how that is going to help me in life..... professionally or socially.

When it comes to comments on my ActiveRain blog size does not matter but sincerity does... to me.

Efficient comments are the same or virtually the same  comments posted (cut and pasted)  to approximately 10 posts a day....
Size does not matter...sincerity does.

activerain: Re-Blogging on ActiveRain who do you recommend? - 06/23/09 11:05 PM
I try to use Re-blog to add content about mortgage, finance, home inspection, short sales, foreclosures,  appraisal, staging, decorating.... I am primarily Re-Blogging the content to my Outside blogs.
Re-blogging WHO Do you Recommend?
How do you determine something that you want to Re-Blog?
For me:
1.  Are they talking to consumers or are they talking to me?  I prefer to Re-Blog content written to consumers.
2.  Do they have a big hairy advertisement for themselves at the bottom.  Small and tasteful is OK...
3.  Are the images in their post identified with text? Are they using the alt text on … (16 comments)
