activerain: Outside Blog Question: Can I Do This? - 08/08/08 10:05 PM

This is my first Re-Blog so forgive me in advance if I am doing something wrong...
My Outside Blog Question is for members of the My Other Blog is group...Are "Outside" blogs other blogs?
Post is included in group: My other blog is
Or are "Outside" blogs clones of an ActiveRain blog?
One of the guidelines of the 'My other blog is..." group is:
Your blog on ActiveRain is not your "other" blog. Please don't post about blogging on ActiveRain to this group. "
I have not booted the posts about "Outside" blogs in the "My other blog is..." … (13 comments)

activerain: ActiveRain removes points for comments! - 07/26/08 12:01 AM
No you did not miss the Official ActiveRain post about ActiveRain  removing points for comment... I am quoting an anonymous friend who was making a wish...  "hoping the AR Gods remove points for comments" anonymous because it is said in a Members Only post.
Do you believe ActiveRain should remove points for comments?  I should do a poll about that, huh?  I like polls...Nah.
The poll is still open - do you prefer "Great post thanks for sharing" or nothing at all?
The problem for a minority of us are the "Great post thanks for sharing" comments, now known … (21 comments)

activerain: ActiveRain is worth $0.00 - 07/15/08 11:26 PM
Anyone willing to pay to sponsor ActiveRain? It's getting closer to time to pay some money to ActiveRain to sponsor some local communities.  Or to not pay some money to sponsor some local communites. How much is ActiveRain worth? Nothing according to Dane Carlson's Business Opportunities Weblog
"Your blog, ActiveRain.com, is worth $0.00"
"How Much Is Your Blog Worth?"

My blog is worth $0.00.How much is your blog worth?

Before you run off to see how much your ActiveRain blog is ...Here's a hint.  If ActiveRain is as a whole worth nothing, nada, zilch, zero.... your ActiveRain blog … (46 comments)

activerain: Links - Blog Conversations - 06/25/08 01:26 AM
What's a blog post without a link? Or two. Or more...
I am NOW having trouble with links on one of my blogs... my oldest blog, on RealTown...
This is a test
Is it me or is it the fckeditor?  No I am not being obscene that is what the editor on RealTown blogs is called.  The F in FCKeditor stands for Ferdinand?  Nope it is Frederico.  Frederico Caldeira Knabben to be exact.  The guy who developed the text editor's initials are FCK.  My friend Sandy Mattingly (another RealTown blogger) and I have had fun when the FCKeditor on RealTown … (21 comments)

activerain: Another Blogger Decides RealTown is NOT the place to be - 06/12/08 12:47 AM
I think I first met Julie Emery on RealTown's RealTalk. I follow Julie on Twitter. Julie Emery is also a member of ActiveRain. Everyone on ActiveRain always enjoys a graph showing ActiveRain "kicking the butts" of other social media for real estate so here's a graph, enjoy. I threw in WannaNetwork, another real estate network for fun.

Compete ActiveRain vs. RealTown vs. Wannanetwork.com traffic

Comparing to ActiveRain really flattens out the other two network's lines on that graph.... some important info about Real Town Blogs traffic that you may not realize since their line is so flattened by … (23 comments)

activerain: Get Well Soon ActiveRain - 06/11/08 01:23 AM

Get well ActiveRain
Sometimes it's nice to receive a card when you are "under the weather."
ActiveRain had a "rough patch" recently.... a couple of members blogged about the frustrations...
Lenn Harley's "WE LOVE ACTIVE RAIN . . . . . BUT. . . . . . COME ON GUYS!!! WE'VE JUST GOT TO VENT."
Brian Block's "Fix it Fast my Friends"
both are Members Only... bloggers choice... nothing scandalous... ActiveRain has had some error messages, some problems displaying images...
I tried sending (posting) this card Tuesday but could not at the time.

activerain: ActiveRain no fly zones... a money making idea for ActiveRain - 05/21/08 01:44 AM
Last week... advertisements on ActiveRain emails started discussions:

New Active Rain Advertising Added Below Post Comments sent to Us... (Members Only)
Neal Bloom
If you can't advertise in the comment section of someone's Blog… then how come someone is advertising in my blog email notifications? (Members Only) A lot of the discussion about advertising on emails came down to ActiveRain needs to make money. ActiveRain needs sources of revenue.
How can ActiveRain make money? Ads... we have them. They are now doing advertisements on the ActiveRain emails. What else can ActiveRain do? Bake sales? Car washes?

activerain: ActiveRain Week in Review for 5/11/08 to 5/18/08 - 05/18/08 09:03 PM
It is my privilege to present you with the ActiveRain Week in Review for 5/11/08 to 5/18/08.
I would like to thank Neal "The Real Deal" Bloom for allowing me to take on this task.I personally enjoy reading blogs about blogging and social networking....but I tried to take a broader view reading all of the offerings on ActiveRain this week.
I read way more of ActiveRain than usual this week. There is a lot of noise on ActiveRain but you can still find some creative conversations or creative conversations just waiting to happen, if you look for them... so without further … (43 comments)

activerain: The innate evilness of recipes on ActiveRain - 05/04/08 12:57 AM
I was surprised that recipes rated as high as they did in a poll about what should be outlawed on ActiveRain.
ActiveRain ought to have a law against posting....Recipes now have 27 votes or 19.15% of the vote in the very unscientific poll.
Now before any doofus starts whining, ranting or screaming about censorship, I personally have no problem with recipes on ActiveRain. I don't believe I have ever posted one but here goes....
From HER Realtors Cookbook Number .... No I can't do it. I have a degree in Home Economics (no cooking or sewing involved) and worry about being pigeonholed. Do … (41 comments)

activerain: ActiveRain - Localism Monopoly - 05/02/08 11:15 PM
What if I could divide up my ActiveRain points and become featured agent in Dublin, Grandview, Lewis Center, Powell, Upper Arlington, Westerville and Worthington... and still be number one in Columbus?
Heck maybe I should not even stop there... what about Delaware, Hilliard, Gahanna and New Albany as well? I just threw Grandview Heights in at the last minute I realized for a mere 101 points I can be number one in Grandview Heights, a lovely community. I have over 300K ActiveRain points right now...
Featured - All I'd lose my place on this list but who cares about that ...

activerain: Knock-Knock... - 04/29/08 01:14 AM
Here's my first joke on a blog. I think... maybe I have posted a joke on Columbus Best Blog, Discover Columbus or ColumbusBestBlog.com (my other blogs...) before...bad blogger?
From the internet... this is NOT original material?  Who has the copyright?  I have no idea.  Are there copyrighted Knock-Knock jokes... I am sure there are.  When you post a joke to ActiveRain or a blog are you concerned about copyright?
Knock-Knock
Who's there?
Heaven
Heaven who?
Heaven you heard enough of these silly knock-knock jokes?
oooooh here's a knock-knock joke for those who are concerned about religion on ActiveRain too. How many … (19 comments)

activerain: ActiveRain ought to have a law against posting.... - 04/27/08 04:39 AM
Fill in the blank in this poll.  There ought to be a law against __________ on ActiveRain.

What belongs on ActiveRain?  What does not?
Jokes?  Paid content? Recipes?  Animated gifs? Market reports? I've read people riled up over all those and more on ActiveRain...
Neal Bloom and I discussed Jokes in the comments on the ActiveRain Guidelines post recently. Neal doesn't believe ActiveRain should allow jokes.  Neal wrote:
"personally I don't agree they should be posted...they are not industry related and to me don't seem to fit the social criteria either. Also ...who knows if they are actually the posters jokes. Maybe they are just … (143 comments)

activerain: ActiveRain Comment Spam Poll - 04/14/08 12:23 AM
Two recent posts about Comment SPAM on ActiveRain:
Is it rude to have your website link on your comments?
"Don't advertise yourself in the comments of another member's blog"
You can choose multiple answers in this poll but can only vote once.

activerain: "Don't advertise yourself in the comments of another member's blog" - 04/13/08 03:00 AM
That means you.
The ActiveRain Guidelines says : "Do not advertise yourself or your services in the comment section of another member's blog post."
Comment Spam
Rich Jacobson writes about comment spam and the AR Guidelines occasionally. Why?  Because we have so many comment spammers among us on ActiveRain.  An amazing number...   Of course some spam because they don't know better, they joined ActiveRain to promote themselves.... and have not made the connection that they are on someone else's post and the discussion there is not about what a great agent (inspector, loan officer, stager)  they are... or maybe they see other members comment spamming and getting away with … (59 comments)

activerain: Free Speech - What if you had to pay to comment on ActiveRain? - 04/05/08 07:14 PM
Pay with your ActiveRain points...
Qassia tried it... charging members to comment, rather than paying for comments.  Qassia has Qassia dollars rather than points but what if you had to pay with your ActiveRain points for making comments on ActiveRain?  What if other ActiveRain members paid you points to comment on your blog?
Join Qassia- Qassia is not just real estate but has a real estate directory. Qassia is a beta.
Would making points cost points (but pay points to the blogger) stop the "water cooler" atmosphere?
Would paying to comment reduce
the "great post thanks for sharing it" type comment?the gaming "hey come visit my blog since I … (6 comments)

What are they good for?Absolutely...nothingUhuh..Uhuh
Say it again...

OK I am stealing the tune and many of the words of Edwin Starr's 1970's hit protest song...War ... forgive me...

Should RealTown (Internet Crusade) introduce points in their communities?
RealTalk
Back a few years ago on RealTalk if you tried to get lurkers to communicate on RealTalk (the Grand Daddy of national real estate communities) lurkers would dig in their heals and say that someone else had already said what they would say, so rather than say "ditto" they were remaining silent.  The same 100 or so people out of 10,000 (back then a couple of years ago...)  would carry on conversations.  Lenn Harley … (130 comments)

They're talking about YOU on Agent Genius a national real estate blog!
They've even got a photo of you... in a skimpy swimsuit... WOW... look at those legs, look at that tummy... Oh excuse me...I guess that's the Fonz in the 1950's version of a Speedo and a black leather jacket. They (Agent Genius) are talking about ActiveRain... not a particular person on ActiveRain.
