home selling: Home seller offers buyers booze... - 10/01/11 03:28 PM
A home seller plying buyers with booze? "Home Seller offers $1000 in Booze to Buyers" Booze and food? Hmmmmm home buyer incentives The home or the incentive is not in Central Ohio... The headline of the MSNBC article is "home seller offers $1000 in booze to buyers" but the last paragraph says: "It’s become kind of a talking point," according to the general manager at the nearby establishment, "As far as whether it’s going to work I don’t know. The rallying point seems to be actually how to spend the $1,000s. The best idea I’ve heard is a family of four

Real Living Cornerstone is Real Living HER's cousin in Farmville VA (Farmville like Facebook???? don't you love that?) Are people still playing Farmville on Facebook? Thanks to Navona for allowing her post to be Re-Blogged. I think this is interesting for buyers... but also for home sellers. home selling: Central Ohio home sellers do the bed bugs convey? - 09/02/10 01:15 PM
Central Ohio home sellers do the bed bugs convey? "Convey" means stay with the real estate. Fixtures are part of the property. Personal property sometimes conveys with the sale of real estate. Bed Bugs are an issue in Central Ohio. Did you know there is a Central Ohio Bed Bug Task Force? Made up of people from the bug industry. This is the last of a four part series about bed bugs (or is it bedbugs?) Central Ohio bed bugs... recommendations to REALTORS® bed bug contingency.... home selling: Why Your Listing Agent Should Be A Blogger - 08/14/10 07:13 AM
This is a Re-Blog of an article from New Jersey real estate agent and blogger Andrea Kappre. If your neighbor is on the market can you find your Central Ohio neighborhood on the Internet? Does their listing "pop up" in the search engines when you search for your neighborhood or subdivision? Not on Realtor.com or their broker's site but on Google, Bing or Yahoo.com not searching their address but searching for your neighborhood or subdivision. Does your neighborhood or the homes for sale in your neighborhood pop up? Google is the one that matters now. In the future perhaps another

home selling: You're loony...but your buyer's don't need to know - 07/01/10 06:28 AM
Signs, signs everywhere a sign... Cynthia is the staging pro and she says "take them down." Thanks to Cynthia Bartch a home stager in Georgia for allowing her post to be Re-Blogged. Via Cynthia Bartch ~ Redesigned Spaces ~ Georgia Home Stager/Property Stylist (N. Atlanta, GA): Yes I get it, you've got a great sense of whimsy! Maybe you're a bit loony too but your potential buyers don't need to know. In fact the signs you've hung on your walls will conjure up all kinds negative thoughts in the minds of potential buyers viewing your home. Please resist the urge

home selling: Pictures tell the story - especially when you are selling your home! - 06/30/10 09:37 AM
This is a post from my friend Lori Cain out in Tulsa Oklahoma... what's true in Tulsa about photos is true in Central Ohio too. Universal? Lori's post A picture tells a thousand words - especially when you are selling your home! is so true. A picture is worth a thousand words. I hate taking photos of homes but I have to admit to Lori being correct that buyers need photos of homes online. I don't know how to take 2 dozen photos of a 2 bedroom home. I will admit I don't like to pay for a professional photographer

home selling: Pets are NOT People - 05/16/10 11:24 AM
Too political? I really just wanted a photo of dogs playing poker. This or one with Goldman Sachs are all I could come up with...both licensed with a Creative Commons license from notionscapital on Flickr. I went with insurance giant AIG. Dog gone it... "Pets are NOT People" The dog is going to play cards!!! I am not even sure if it is poker, bridge, pinochle or 'go fish' but he is going to a card party... not staying home for an open house. This is a Re-Blog of Randy Ostrander's Pets are NOT People... to some

home selling: Tips for Preparing Your Home For the Market - 02/11/10 06:18 PM
More home staging advice from Kathy Nielsen a home stager in Atlanta. Thanks for allowing a Re-Blog. Via Kathy Nielsen Atlanta Georgia Home Stager (Georgia Interior Solutions, LLC): It's likely that most sellers know of the importance of the three C's (clutter, clean and curb appeal) when preparing their home for the market. These three things will always play an important role when it comes to getting a house show-ready. However, there are three R's (re-arrange, resist and refresh) that you can help take your efforts a notch up and truly help set your home apart from the others

home selling: How do Home Buyers Find Their Home? - 12/24/09 06:50 AM
My friend Don in CT. shares how buyers find your home. This is national. Is your Central Ohio home poised to be found by buyers? Via Don Fabrizio-Garcia - Connecticut Real Estate (Nationwide Realty): A new report just released by Inman News details how home buyers ultimately find their new home. The results are not surprising: 36% of all home buyers found the home they purchased through their real estate agent 36% of all home buyers found the home they purchased on the internet Just with the two items above, a whopping 72% of all recent home buyers found their

home selling: We'll Leave the Light on for You! (And the heat, too) - 12/17/09 02:14 AM
Light is important in Central Ohio too as we get close to the longest night of the year, the Winter Solstice. This home staging advice from Diana Young in Seattle is Re-Blogged for Central Ohio home sellers. Via Diana Young (Staging Seattle, King & Snohomish Counties): During these cold, dark winter months in the Seattle area, it is important to welcome prospective buyers to your vacant home. The exterior lights should be on timers so they are on at dusk and off at day break. Interior lamps (not overhead lights) should also be on when it gets dark outside. We

home selling: When It Is A House Divided - 11/17/09 10:02 AM
I remember the movie "War of the Roses" sad, sad movie... Myrl Jeffcoat of Great West GMAC (soon to be Real Living I assume) wrote this post to consumers in her market Sacramento California but it is of course probably universally applicable. This is a "Re-Blog." In Central Ohio with relatively low housing costs, the "Current real estate market conditions have some divorcing couples looking to separate their lives, but realizing they can't afford to live apart until their home is sold." is probably a problem for fewer couples. Still ideas worth sharing. Via Myrl Jeffcoat (Real Living

home selling: Stage Rooms for Their Intended Purpose When Selling a House - 11/06/09 06:29 PM
I just realized Marianne Sweet is an ActiveRain member. I read her all the time on miOaklandCounty.com Good first impressions... Via Marianne Sweet, Home Sweet Home Staging, LLC Rochester Hills, MI (Home Sweet Home Staging): Reblogged from my page on www.mioaklandcounty.com and http://mioaklandcounty.realestatetomato.com/ When potential buyers view a house for sale, they need to see rooms presented as they were intended. The master bedroom shouldn’t be an exercise room, the bathroom shouldn’t be a pet station, the garage shouldn’t be a storage unit, and unless you have more than 3 bedrooms, resist the urge to make one an

Columbus Home Sellers - staging #2 Home staging is a service some home sellers use to make their home more saleable than the competition. I am not sure how many Central Ohio home owners use home staging to be number one for home buyers but some swear by home staging. Selling your Central Ohio home? Staging #2 - we're number 2 we try harder To borrow some old ad from a car rental company... was it Hertz? or Avis? that was number two so they tried harder? How old is that ad? Sorry. I first saw staging being #2 on

home selling: Selling your Central Ohio home - it starts with your mailbox II - 10/14/09 09:49 PM
Selling your Central Ohio home - it starts with your mailbox... The second helpful hint in the book 101 Ways to Prepare Your Home for Sale is: 2. If there are flowers planted by the mailbox, make sure they are as fresh as possible. We have not had a real frost yet this year.... at least in my part of Central Ohio... maybe they have out further. We will soon then all the impatiens, petunias, daisies, geraniums at the mailbox will be a wet black mess. Flowers that looked so gorgeous in the war, humid summer.... well not so

home selling: Selling your Central Ohio home - it starts with your mailbox - 10/07/09 07:55 AM
Selling your Central Ohio home according to '101 Ways to Prepare Your Home For Sale' it starts with your mailbox... Not YOUR mailbox but mailboxes in general.... according to this little book they (mailboxes) gotta be nice or buyers won't look at your house, it is a place to start... Words of wisdome from this little book I bought at the Columbus Board of REALTORS store? Making your home attrractive to buyers all starts at the street if you've got a mailbox "on the street." Central Ohio is kind of a mishmash of urban mailboxes on the house or rural mailboxes

This is a Re-Blog of Craig Schiller a home stager's blog. Schiller like the park in "our" German Village. Craig is home stager "extraordinare" in Chicago. Via Craig Schiller (REAL ESTAGING, a nationally recognized leader in Staging.): When a home stager is hired one of our primary jobs responsibilities is to stage the property in a manner that best solves any problem or perceived issues buyers may have with it. home selling: Celebrities caught in housing pickle... - 01/31/09 09:12 AM
Celebrities caught in housing pickle is the headline of a Trulia Newsletter that recently hit my mailbox. "Here are three celebs who've reduced their prices on Trulia in hopes of snagging a buy." The words "on Trulia" is a link to Trulia.com in the email (SPAM?) in my mailbox, to Columbus Ohio on Trulia. Columbus celebrities?? I bite... because welll....who can resist celebrities?? Celebrity's homes... The email (SPAM?) from Trulia.com says: "If you think you’re the only one having hard time selling, think again. Even celebrities with multi-million dollar pads are struggling to sell their homes in today's market.
