The Olentangy Orange High School football schedule - 2011
I found the 2011 Olentangy Orange Pioneers football schedule on a site called MaxPreps.com I could not find the schedule on the Olentangy Orange High School website. It must be there, I just can not see it.
It will soon be Football Friday Night in Central Ohio, the Olentangy Orange Pioneers play the Olentangy Braves for their first game of the year on August 26, 2011.

I found the 2011 Olentangy High School Braves football schedule on a site called MaxPreps.com I could not find the schedule on the Olentangy High School website, I am sure it is there, I just can not see it.

An abstract photo of a boy and his dog from the 1930s in Worthington Ohio is one of my favorites on Flickr. It's another photo from Don O'Brien who shares photos on Flickr from his life growing up near Worthington in the 1930s and 1940s. O'Briens shadow is there on the frozen Olentangy River, along with the reflection of Wilson Bridge. In the description of the shot he says: "Chink, the best dog I've ever known, crossing the Olentangy on ice during the winter of 1936-37"

Newsweek had an article about the 1500 "top" public high schools last week and four Central Ohio high schools made the Newsweek list:
Number 291 on the list is Olentangy Liberty High School
Number 333 on the list is Dublin Jerome High School
Number 929 on the list is Dublin Coffman High School
Number 1095 on the list is Dublin Scioto High School

We have rivers, two of them, but does that make Columbus a "river city"?
Forbes.com called Columbus Ohio a river city in it's recent article when they named our fair city "Columbus Best Place to Grow Old"
The Best Place to Grow Old article by Maurna Desmond says:
"... Columbus, Ohio. This river city tops our list of cities where your nest egg goes farthest, thanks to reasonably priced housing relative to income and a 4.5% inflation rate that allows a buck to stretch a little further than other quickly growing areas."

Looking up when schools open I thought Olentangy Schools opened a week earlier than most Franklin County schools for extra snow days? Not something you usually think about in July... more area, more rural roads, more snow emergencies, or at least more mornings when the roads are not fit for school buses... and maybe Olentangy Schools get out earilier in the spring than most Franklin County Schools. Then I saw City of Delaware and Big Walnuts starting dates and was convinced of my snow day theory... but then why oh why is Buckeye Vally in sink with Franklin County schools?

Has the Columbus Dispatch published a back to school list yet? They're running back to school ads...
I hated back to school ads as a kid. I liked the first day of school but I dreaded day two and beyond and just generally the end of summer.
Here's a short list of the school districts in my part of Central Ohio
Columbus The first day of school for the year is Wednesday, August 27, 2008 (traditional double check there are other schedules.)
Dublin I hope Dubliners can tell when school starts from the Dublin Back to School List PDF
