social media: Pinterest Pointers for traffic - 03/20/12 11:00 AM
Pinterest Pointers: Don't upload your photos to Pinterest, Pin It! Pin It. Pin It is easy to add to your browser. Do you have "Pin It" on your browser? You get traffic on your site by pinning an image (creates a link to the original) to your board. You want people to admire your photographs but you really want people to visit your site where you have a lot more info about your market, your contact info. Don't you? Isn't that the point of pinning for business. Or for traffic. People who don't blog do that. People who

social media: Pinterest Viral Loop: All content belongs to me... - 03/03/12 06:22 AM
All content belongs to me... The photo above is one I took a few years ago. I put it on Pinterest linking to my Columbus Ohio real estate site. The Pinterest Viral Loop... A site thelondoner.me says "All content unless otherwise stated belongs to me and may not be used without written permission. Powered by Blogger."* You will NOT see any photos from that blog or Pinterest here.... Imagine if you will, a Diet Coke can as a syringe... "I've seen the needle and the damage done." Pinterest is perfect for the viral nature of the web On

social media: I lost interest in Pinterest - 02/23/12 05:20 AM
Pinterest... I think I am over it. I lost my interest in Pinterest Christine Bohn wrote a post about Pinterest "Have You Discovered Pinterest?" and I re-blogged it, changing the title on January 6, 2012 - Help Pinterest Peeps to get some help with a pinning problem. Christine said : "Have you heard of Pinterest? If you enjoy Photography, Stuff, and Ideas and would like to have your own personal bulletin board to save thoughts and images – then you might fall in love with Pinterest." Pin It The Pin It pin is just one way to

social media: Are you Pinteresting? - 02/06/12 10:29 AM
Are you Pinteresting? Are you good at curating visual content? "My name is Maureen and I am a Pinterest addict" Are you on Pinterest? Do you need a Pinterest invitation? Don't worry although Pinterest is very addictive Pinterest does NOT take a lot of time. Pinterest is just bookmarking... very visual book marking. Pinterest is hot now. Hotter than Google +? Hotter than Twitter was when it was the same age? So I hear.... Pinterest is just curating content. You don't have to create content, so if blogging is not natural... or you are not good at photography... you

social media: Help Pinterest peeps.... - 01/06/12 08:48 AM
Hey Pinterest peeps... What am I doing wrong? Help! Maureen McCabe's "Rainbow" board Right now Friday, January 6, 2012... above is how I see my "Rainbow" board. I have been playing with Pinterest a bit. I joined it long, long ago and for the longest time had two boards with one image on each, things I found on other's "boards" and "re-pinned." Last week I started "pinning." I found the "Pin It" tool and installed it on my tool bar on my laptop and desktop. This ugly liitle thing with just the words has happened to me a number of

social media: I Like the buttons... - 08/15/11 08:50 AM
Thanks ActiveRain I Like the buttons... Like, +1... I really, really do.... ... A Linked in button.... that's impressive. It allows you to share to a group. Options. I really like the Tweet button but then again I like Twitter. I really, really do like the buttons. I have to say though I do not like the buttons being on the same line as the title. I do not like titles broken up into multiple lines. I think I will go back and change that title to "Olentangy Orange Football 2012" Maybe more concise titles will be better. "Thomas

social media: New Social Media Real Estate Job.... bounty hunter - 04/06/11 08:01 AM
New Social Media Real Estate Job... Debe Maxwell heard about a new job in our industry, in her post "Social Media Suicide - DON'T DO IT!" Debe writes: "As REALTORS®, we are also bound by our Code of Ethics, RESPA / Fair Housing guidelines. Many of the statutes not only apply to our clients but, to one another. Keep these in mind when making commentary online. I recently learned that there are people out there who are PAID to find these comments and report them to the appropriate Boards, Commissions or federal offices. It's just not worth losing our licenses

social media: a scary story.... "Why I Deleted my Foursquare Account" - 10/27/10 04:10 PM
a scary story... "Why I Deleted My Foursquare Acccount" just in time for Halloween... When a remake of the 2006 movie 'When a Stranger Calls' or every other formulaic scary story about a phone call from a creep is updated to include Foursquare.... You know the movie where the girl is all alone and helpless. Babysitting or house sitting and the creep calls... when the modern movie 'When a Stranger Calls - Foursquare is sooo scary' is released I want some of the royalties... send ME the money for the idea. Or perhaps Shea deserves the money for the idea

social media: No YOU could be using Facebook wrong - 07/14/10 08:42 PM
I think this is the same Jonathan Rivera in the video. Rivera wrote: You could be using facebook wrong! on ActiveRain with a huge dramatic "STOP, You could be using facebook wrong! " No, STOP, YOU Could be the one using facebook wrong! It's not like it's a secret that if you use the word REALTOR incorrectly in blog titles, urls etc. NAR tells you to STOP. It's no secret you can't change a Facebook vanity URL... or it shouldn't be a secret if you are a social media expert... he's Tech... Real-TechGuy.com Tech fella used the Facebook URL socialrealtor There

How influential are you? Are you the most influential person on the web? Fast Company wants to know. It is the Influence Project... You will probably hear more about the Influence Project soon but get in on the ground level today. Let me introduce you to the Influence Project, you are probably more influential than you realize. I joined using my Facebook profile. It just took moments. The Influence Project used my photo from my Facebook profile. How influential are you? For anyone who was around in 2006 it is like Tino Buntic's '2000 Bloggers' project on steroids. The

social media: 50% of ALL women offended by Jeff Corbett's post's title - 05/27/10 07:33 AM
50% of ALL women offended by Jeff Corbett's post's title... 9 of 10 women want to string Jeff Corbett up by... I'm just making up the numbers but here's a poll. Were you offended? Should you be offended? Jeff Corbett's blog post titled "Estrogen Infused Markets Equals Unpredictable Mortgage Rate Forecasting" Spawned Karen Anne Stone's blog post titled: The emotionally charged mortgage market is it really estrogen infused or testoserone poisoned? Karen's post is Members Only so I can not tell you what it says or what is said in the comments. It looks

social media: The ActiveRain secret handshake? - 05/07/10 10:53 AM
Should ActiveRain have a secret handshake for members? I mean so we would know other members? Have you ever read the Freakonomics chapter about NAR being like the Ku Klux Klan? Do you get their point? Do you like their point? Here's a poll about why you post content Members Only on ActiveRain. I'm not saying you should not... but would you on your own blog? If you were blogging on Agent Genius would you? Or Bloodhound Blog... oh wait none of those have Members Only... how about Trulia? Zillow? If you participate there if you talk to others in the

social media: Everything you always wanted to know about Creative Commons licenses* - 02/24/10 07:40 AM
Everything you always wanted to know about Creative Commons licenses *but were afraid to ask was answered by Jeff Turner an ActiveRain member in a couple of ActiveRain posts from long, long ago. Free Photos At The Flickr Of A Mouse For The Love Of Creative Commons Those with the gift of photography sometimes want to share some photos and they tell you so in how they license their content. If a photo is "All Rights Reserved" you can not use it unless the owner grants you permission. If a photo is "Some Rights Reserved" check it out... can the

social media: Please rob me - location, location, location - 02/18/10 06:51 AM
Please rob me ...if you can brave my blood thirsty Rottweiler / Pit Bull mix "Harry" at home... Location based social media is all the rage. Please rob me is a website that pulls content that says "Hey I'm at Joe's Bar" ...to everyone and adds "Please rob me." Is Please rob me off base in pointing out the obvious? Their mission statement "why?" says: "Hey, do you have a Twitter account? Have you ever noticed those messages in which people tell you where they are? Pretty annoying, eh. Well, they're actually also potentially pretty dangerous. We're about to tell you

social media: Official Roster and Schedule for the Virtual Real Estate BarCamp: Jan 4th from 9am PST - 4pm PST - 01/04/10 08:00 AM
It is today. Here is the schedule and instructions. I wish I could go to all the sessions. I have four of the seven sessions narrowed down to two choices, that's progress. I am kind of that way with a menu too. One thing I did last time that helped me was use my Desktop to watch the presentation, be in in the chatroom and watch Twitter. At the same time I used my netbook to be on MY LinkedIn when Mike Mueller was talking about LinkedIn, on My Posterous.com when Brad Carrol was talking about Posterous.com I suppose you

#REBCOHIO -10 things I learned Lots of what was said at REBarCamp Ohio can apply to our ActiveRain blogs Debra Drummond ActiveRain member, who Twitters as @Michigan Moves is a forgiving person. She made me cry at lunch at REBarCamp I was laughing so hard at how we met on ActiveRain. Toby Boyce @TCar coined the term "Law of 2 feet" * Photoblogging is good. @SaraWV and @rewebcoach said so... ActiveRain is not good** What Whuffie is ... I know I have Googled "Whuffie" a bunch of times hopefully after the session with @BillLublin and @HalLublin I will remember

social media: Central Ohio - Connector Radio - 08/12/09 10:48 AM
Thanks to Connector Radio I got to visit the Ohio State Fair, Saturday. Actually I probably could have gone to the Ohio State Fair without free tickets. The Ohio State Fair is really an affordable form of entertainment for adults who can amuse themselves with rabbits, cows, crafts, people watching… I loved fairs growing up but the food and the midway were what I loved. I’ve outgrown cotton candy, deep fried food and the Tilt-O-Whirl. Wyliemac and Rockson are Connector Radio. They are also sometimes known as Alvin Borromeo and Rocky VanBrimmer. Central Ohio Network’s Connector Radio says: “The Central
