social networking: Pinterest Viral Loop: All content belongs to me... - 03/02/12 10:22 PM
All content belongs to me...

The photo above is one I took a few years ago.  I put it on Pinterest linking to my Columbus Ohio real estate site.
The Pinterest Viral Loop...  A site thelondoner.me says  "All content unless otherwise stated belongs to me and may not be used without written permission. Powered by Blogger."*  You will NOT see any photos from that blog or Pinterest here.... Imagine if you will,  a Diet Coke can as a syringe... "I've seen the needle and the damage done."
Pinterest is perfect for the viral nature of the web

social networking: Web 3.0 busybody with bad hair... - 06/09/10 04:24 AM
Web 3.0...
What would bother you more... an anonymous comment on a website calling you a busybody or an anonymous comment on a website about your hair....
or your weight?
or your teeth?
or your age?
or your skin?
or your love life?
or your children?
or whatever your achilles heel is?
A busybody according to Wikipedia
"A busybody is someone who meddles or pries into the affairs of others."
Web 3.0  a race for the bottom*
It's a race to the bottom with new start ups on Web 3.0  It's a brave new world! Everyone is worried about privacy … (11 comments)

social networking: Social Networking - Cutting Your Own Grass - 08/13/09 04:52 AM

If you are attending REBarcamp Ohio next week and don't know what to expect here's a video to help.
Thanks to Jeff Turner.
There are still some spaces at REBarcamp Ohio in Columbus on the 20th:

Yesterday, I finally got around to editing the kickoff presentation I did at REBarcamp Denver.
This morning I received this message in tweet from Jeremy Blanton: "Can you do me a fav & put that video up on AR?" I asked him to tell me why and the following was his response.
Jeff, I would like you to post your video … (3 comments)

social networking: Never realiZed there were so many rulZ - 06/28/09 01:37 AM

Do you know the rules the game is played by?
Can you measure up?
I am not a fan of hijacking.... I just don't get it.  Real live take over the comments kind of hijacking or the recreational  "I'll hijack your blog then you hijack mine"  kind of hijacking, never have been, never will be....
Real live hijacking a blog is wrong.  Promoting yourself in the comments of another members post is against ActiveRain Guidelines...
Not that I think there is anything wrong with the recreational hijacking  really...  It has been popular with some members on ActiveRain since the beginning... … (10 comments)

social networking: TweetCasting.com would you tweet for food? FREE food? - 06/23/09 04:31 AM
Would you tweet for food?
Are you on Twitter?  Facebook?  Linkedin?  MySpace?
All of the above?
Have you heard of TasteCasting?
Would you tweet for food?
TasteCasting started in beautiful Columbus Ohio... I have not participated for personal reasons....
I always wondered if TasteCastings were just Tweet Ups focused on a restaurant, cafe, bar or other food business  but the TweetCasting site says "complimentary."  They aren't tweeting about bird seed...  the Columbus Team has tasted:
"Fabulous Mediterranean Food In Hilliard, Ohio," at the Olive Tree Mediterranean Cafe The Hills Market, a gourmet market which is in the Worthington area   Sugardaddy’s … (0 comments)

social networking: "tweeting" like a used car salesman... - 06/17/09 05:52 AM
Twitter ettiquete
Do you thank people when they start following you on Twitter?
I do not. I have read more than once that I should.
What do you think of this as my "thank you" for following DM?
"Thanks for following.  Do you wanna buy a house?  Or do you know someone who wants to buy or sell a house? I look forward to sharing some great info about new and used homes as well as open houses and price reductions from time to time."
Columbus car salemen new or used

social networking: How to win friends and influence people... online - 03/21/09 04:44 AM
"How to win friends and influence people"
Anyone read Dale Carnegie's classic book? Does it translate to web 2.0 for you?
"Six ways to make people like you"
The number one way of the  "Six ways" that I absolutely hate when sales people do it, verbally:
"Remember that a man's Name is to him the sweetest and most important sound in any language."
I want my friends and acquaintences to use my name occasionally but when I am talking to someone in person or on the phone and they try to work my name,  "Maureen", or "Ms. McCabe" or … (16 comments)

social networking: Social Networking NOT for School Teachers - 11/12/07 10:50 PM
Or Ohio school teachers anyway...
At a time when many in the real estate industry are embracing social networking Ohio teachers are being told "Just say no" to:
MySpace
Facebook
In The Columbus Dispatch, Jill Riepenhoff and Jennifer Smith Richards wrote Teachers’ saucy Web profiles risk jobs
which says: "the Ohio Education Association, which has "strongly" encouraged teachers against using MySpace, Facebook and other online social-networking sites."
The differences? We are not interacting with children in our jobs AND our Web profiles are not saucy. Are they?
I am old enough and grumpy enough that each time I get a friend request I cringe … (21 comments)

social networking: Social Networking - What's the point? - 11/05/07 06:13 PM
Inspired by John Lockwood I started a social network. Just like that, spur of the moment.  My new social network is called "The Maureen Corps." The 'Maureen Corps' is on Ning.com  Ning.com  is part of OpenSocial. I blogged about OpenSocial over the weekend, find it if you care about what OpenSocial is about.
John Lockwood  wrote about Ning.com and getting your own social network. I clicked on the link in John's entry about Ning.com never thinking I would create a social network.  It must have been an impulse kind of thing.. as I recall that's kind of how I stumbled into ActiveRain (a social network) too... Following John Lockwood's inspiration … (43 comments)

Sellsius° Blog   says join  MyBlogLog.com
"Sellsius has added you as a contact.
Have you received this message in your email yet? If you're a blogger, you probably will if you join MyBlogLog and visit Sellsius (come by and say hello). IMHO, MyBlogLog is the hottest thing in the blogosphere. MBL is building a community network of bloggers and readers, encouraging us to make contact with each other, learn about each other's interests (other blogs) and showcase our blogs. The community links are great for discovering new blogs. I've found a number of really good ones, well under the radar, for now. … (40 comments)
