technology: Everybody loves Glenn Kelman - 11/04/11 08:50 AM
Or does everybody loves to hate Glenn Kelman of Redfin.
...or do they? I don't think they do.
Dale Chumbley certainly is not a hater*...  Dale was at an event the other day where Glenn Kelman, Stan Humphries of Zillow and some other guy I've never heard of were on a panel, about how real estate technology has changed the real estate industry.
Do you have real living relationships with your clients?
Dale Chumbley said what?  Or laughed at something Glen Kelman said?  from Geekwire.com 'Video: Redfin's Glenn Kelman is pissing people off again"
"Kelman (to the audience): What’s so funny? Would you like … (2 comments)

Columbus Nominate Columbus for the new networking infrastructure that "would deliver Internet service at one gigabit per second, approximately 100 times the current fastest rate in Columbus" according to TechColumbus. Google is looking for communities that want "Google Fiber."
I wondered why Columbus was not clammoring for it.
Googlumbus.com, the Tech Columbus site says : "The areas proposed will stretch from German Village, through downtown, the Arena District, Short North, OSU Campus, and north of Clintonville."
Deadline to NOMINATE COLUMBUS is tomorrow Friday March 26, 2010

technology: Moving Beyond "Static" Presentations for Your Blog and Website - 03/04/10 02:13 AM

WOW the opportunities MapsAlive could offer on a blog or even a static website.  Thanks to Cindy Jones for recommending this site.  What a cool tool!
I joined. I am starting out with the FREE first year.
I watched the 15 minute video (that's a lot of video for me to watch) about the possiblities.
I don't want to squander any of the 10 free tours so this is one place I will figure out before I play around, unlike PollDaddy.com, Picnik.com or some of the other great places to use to add interesting content to blogs or websites.  This … (0 comments)

technology: Who else has received their Google Wave invitation? - 11/03/09 09:49 AM
OK I've got mine...  and I have invitations.  Is there anyone with Real Living who wants to try Google Wave? Let me know and I will send you an invite.
Or are you with Real Living and have a Google Wave account?
It felt like Christmas morning the day I opened my Gmail and the Google Wave invite was there.... but I have done nothing with it.
Cheryl has done some great posts about Google Wave.
Cheryl wrote:
"Google Wave is kinda sorta a hybrid of email/instant messaging/twitter/group blogging.  I can see a lot of uses for it."

technology: TechCrunch is posting Confidential Twitter Documents - 07/15/09 12:54 AM

Technology Blogging
TechCrunch a technology blog is posting confidential Twitter (internal Twitter) information they received from a hacker.  TechCrunch first posted a blog post about having that stolen information last night.
A later blog post says:
“News is what somebody somewhere wants to suppress; all the rest is advertising,”
Who said that?  According to Michael Arrington who is Tech Crunch that is a  quote from "Lord Northcliffe, a newspaper magnate, supposedly"
Arrington wrote: "I agree wholeheartedly."
Arrington is an attorney...
The Twitter documents were stolen by someone referred to as ”Hacker Croll" and supplied to TechCrunch.  … (3 comments)

technology: A newspaper on a PC? "That's Crazy Talk" - 02/05/09 07:40 AM
"A Newspaper? On a PC? That’s Crazy Talk"  in the Bits column on the the New York Times website,  Sam Grobart shares a  video from a 1981. It a San Francisco television newscast about the two San Francisco print publications pioneering newspapers on PCs.
"Imagine if you will sitting down to your morning coffee... turning on your home computer to read the days newspaper"
"That's Crazy Talk!"
The San Francisco PC owner dials ...and I mean dials... look at the monitors... look at the keyboards but really, really look at that red rotary dial phone.  That's primitive. The PC owner … (3 comments)

technology: Here comes another post about copyright... - 12/13/07 05:57 PM
They said: "Blog, blog, blog it all. Won't you blog about this song."
So I did... Here Comes Another Bubble on ActiveRain. You can't see the video there anymore. It is not on YouTube.
It was funny. It was brilliant.  It was the most viewed video on YouTube.
I first read on Sellsius Real Estate Blog that YouTube had to take it down... YouTube Removes Parody over 1 Photo.   Joe (I think this is Joe Ferrera) argues fair use.
Miss the clever parody? *** You can still see the video on Valleywag... and Owen Thomas writes about why it was taken down in  Here comes another takedown *** hmmmm … (22 comments)

technology: Teach an old dog new tricks... - 12/01/07 04:38 PM
This is taking dog training to extreme levels.
On engadget.com this week Austrian Researchers train dogs to use computers.
St. Paul beagle extraordinaire Daisy already does it... if they don't keep an eye on her.
Today is Mingle with our Mutts at the Franklin County Dog Shelter in Columbus...That's what I'm blogging about on ColumbusBestBlog.com today... and it is NOT only mutts in the sense of mix breeds.  There are full bred canines to "rescue" in Central Ohio.
Breed specific as well as non breed speicific rescue groups participate in the Mingle With Our Mutts event that is the first and … (13 comments)

technology: A kid from Columbus Ohio featured on Techmeme - 11/29/07 09:41 AM
Haochi Chen is a Columbus Ohio teenager... He's 17 now... I believe Haochi is a junior in high school. Are you familiar with Techmeme?   I was browsing through  Techmeme today and I recognized Haochi Chen's name... and the name of his blog "Googlified."  Haochi Chen is a Google enthusiast.
Here's the blurb for Haochi's post from Techmeme:
"  Haochi / Googlified: Google Digg-Style Experiment  -  Google Experimental is currently running an experiment that allows some selected users to "influence [the] search experience by adding, moving, and removing search results."  -  On a result page, you can choose move a search result to the top by … (5 comments)

technology: Do you say "Rooter" or "Router"? - 10/27/07 10:02 PM
Rooter? Or router with the out pronounced owt?
I am not that much of a geek but I get the song. It bothers me though that the singer says "rooter" not "router" with the out pronounced out as in the great outdoors. "Owt" not "oot"
I worry that I may be mispronouncing it... mostly in my brain. It is not like I sit around and talk about routers and servers... but I am pretty sure when I have talked to the Real Living Help desk we were all saying routers not rooters (rhyming with Hooters, a dining establishment....) Router pronounced "rooter" also … (22 comments)

technology: Women shouldn't blog because..... - 04/18/07 03:34 AM

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Monday, a male agent in my office forwarded me some links to coverage of the Kathy Sierra story.  For those who don't know tech blogger Kathy Sierra, she's shuttered a successful blog, Creating Passionate Users because of harassment and death threats. I've read Sierra's blog since last fall, although some of it is waaaay over my head. I hope Sierra will be back blogging soon.
In March Sierra wrote: Death threats against bloggers are NOT "protected speech"    The disturbing photos that were posted originally have been removed but there is language....
The agent in my office forwarded some links about the death threats to our manager. Tom (Active Rain member...Tom's never blogged.. that's OK...)in hopes he would forward the information to … (56 comments)
