wordpress: Hello My Name is "Columbus, Ohio real estate" - 12/17/11 08:09 AM
"Hello My Name is Columbus, Ohio real estate" "Hello My Name is Hardwood Floors" Or "Hello My Name is _______" you fill in the blank with your keywords. ActiveRain University is teaching members to use their keywords rather than their names to sign comments on sites outside ActiveRain? Really? A comment on Getting more backlinks...easily...by commenting on blogs says to people who disagreed with the idea of using keywords rather than your name for your name on blog posts outside ActiveRain: I'd point them to AR University where my instructor gave our "class" exactly the same "hint" about using

wordpress: Spamming: A Commenting Strategy - 12/11/11 02:21 PM
Is Westchester Hardwood Floors I mean Debbie's strategy to use keywords instead of her name something you would do when reading a post on another blog and commenting? She is suggesting this as a strategy outside ActiveRain, not on ActiveRain Outside blogs but on really, really outside blogs, your WordPress.org, WordPress.com, Blogger.com etc. sites. I was surprised yesterday or the day before that my WP.org blog got hit with a lot of spam suddenly. I wondered if after doing some updates if I had left my "spam" plugin deactivated by accident. Turns out the free version of what I was using

You always could but I have a mobile version now. Thanks to Margaret Woda

wordpress: Exporting and Importing ActiveRain Content - 05/20/11 01:13 PM
I am Re-Blogging this for the WordPress group on ActiveRain. The rumors are so annoying. You own your content on ActiveRain, you can export it. Self hosted WordPress blog means WordPress.org Thanks to Brad for allowing his post to be Re-Blogged. Via Brad Andersohn (Zillow - Outreach Manager): How Do You Export and Import ActiveRain Content? I can show you... But First, A History Lesson for those interested: Let me start off by saying that the reason ActiveRain created and provided the export XML feature on your My Home page was initially because rumors had started that ActiveRain "owned"

wordpress: Watch your backend... there are sharks - 05/07/11 11:02 AM
Watch your backend... An unsuspecting member commented on a WordPress guru's blog post: "How do you get configured properly on the back end?" Watch out for the WordPress sharks on ActiveRain. Watch your backend.... The water ActiveRain is very shark infested now. There have always been members offering real estate sites built on WordPress on ActiveRain, some great real estate solutions if you can afford them. Tomato Blogs - (Margaret Woda's Focus on Crofton is an example), RSS Pieces Blogs (they are gone now I believe or perhaps they are still around just the early people are gone), Dakno ...

wordpress: April Blog Tour - 04/28/11 11:43 AM
April Blog Tour that's April 2007... Time flies... Blog Tour's were something we did long ago on ActiveRain, we would visit each others really, really outside of ActiveRain blogs.* Maureen Francis of miOaklandCounty.com organized them. In her 2007 April Blog Tour post she wrote: "Why go on Blog Tours? Apparently there are a number of us who not only blog on ActiveRain, but maintain other real estate blogs out there in the 'real world.' My other blog is called miOaklandCounty.com. miOaklandCounty.com had its second birthday in March. In the world of real estate blogging that makes me a nearly

wordpress: Fish in a barrel... who do you trust when it comes to SEO - 04/17/11 11:45 AM
"Who do you trust when it comes to SEO?" It has been a little contentious here on ActiveRain when SEO is mentioned. One of the SEO experts on ActiveRain this morning is asking something like: "Who do you trust when it comes to SEO?" Sometimes I think many of the SEO experts on ActiveRain treat us "Real-A-Tors" like fish in a barrel. I've witnessed the SEO experts who are provide real estate blogs built on WordPress use the WordPress group here on ActiveRain to recommend themselves or their businesss as the answer to any question asked about WordPress blogs or for

wordpress: WordPress Sites that work... Value for the right price - 02/13/11 12:23 PM
When I read Jim Cronin's "What is the Value of the Custom Designed Real Estate Blogsite?" I thought of Eric Michael's ActiveRain post comparing ActiveRain and WordPress (for Free.) Eric wrote: ActiveRain vs WordPress Go! On Eric's post some of the "WordPress experts" were sniffing around...Be careful not everyone who cut their teeth in the last few years who is now a "WordPress expert" has the skills... sure the price may be more affordable. wordpress: What would you do for a badge? - 11/18/10 08:47 PM
What would you do for a badge? What would your blog do for a badge? Do you want a badge? You can get badges for your blog from various groups. Anyone on ActiveRain familiar with Lender411.com? The sidebar says: "Join Lender411 Are you a mortgage or real estate professional? Get yourself listed on Lender411 for FREE." A directory? I am not a member... or I don't believe I have ever joined this directory. Do they give a badge for joining? What would your real estate blog do for a badge? I got an email asking if it was OK for

wordpress: WordCamp - 10/11/10 11:15 AM
Have you been to WordCamp? With all the interest of ActiveRain members about WordPress I wanted to mention WordCamp. Is there a WordCamp in your area? WordCamp Central This weekend New York or Richmond VA, the following weekend Las Vegas. Other exotic international locations... coming up. WordCamp is for both WordPress.com and WordPress.org or at least the first WordCamp Columbus that I attended was both. Lorelle on WordPress who is WordPress.com was there in 2009. So was @JaneforShort I think she is .org but I could be wrong. WordCamp Columbus 2010 was less star filled but I really got a lot

wordpress: Posterize: A really useful WordPress Plugin - 08/18/10 08:16 AM
Cheryl suggests a WordPress Plugin! Anyone else using it? I am closing comments here, discuss on Cheryl's post. Thanks! Via Cheryl Johnson, Bob Taylor Properties, Inc., Los Angeles, CA: POSTERIZE!! Do you have a self-hosted WordPress blog? Do you also use Posterous? You could, of course, post to Posterous first, and have Posterous autopost the article on to your WordPress site. But, if, for whatever reason, you prefer to work in WordPress first, POSTERIZE is the plugin in for you. It automatically forwards your WordPress posts to Posterous. And, from Posterous, you could set the posts to go out in several more directions.

wordpress: You gotta get you one of those WordPress blogs - 07/17/10 07:00 AM
Get a WordPress blog... that's what all the big real estate bloggers have! The promise of total control of your blog! The problem with the Google Adsense ads on my WordPress.org blog... is that I don't have Google Adsense ads on my blog, ColumbusBestBlog.com Someone else does. I looked at my blog at the office Friday on Internet Explorer and there were ads. I seldom use Internet Explorer. I wonder how long someone has been making money off ads on my site. I have a Google AdWordSense* account. It has NO ads on ColumbusBestBlog.com I would think if I wanted

wordpress: Clipmarks curating content onto your blog - 03/29/10 07:53 AM
Clipmarks curating content onto your blog Clipmarks works on Typepad... Blogger, Movable type... Vox... and WordPress blogs Clipmarks works on lots of blogs. I was getting ready to go to my open house yesterday when I saw another real estate agent share a Columbus Dispatch article about Central Ohio house values on his Blogger blog. He used Clipmarks to share it with his blog readers. I saw him tweet a link to his post on his blog. So I joined Clipmarks... Clipmarks curating content - Clip-to-Blog The concept of curating content... confuses me to begin with. Here on ActiveRain

Not sure why Misty is not involved in the WordPress group on ActiveRain ; -( but I am Re-Blogging her content to the group. Has anyone done the RealShout plugin on their WordPress site? wordpress: My Outside Blog(s) R on my WordPress blog - 09/04/09 04:11 PM
Outside Blog / WordPress blog Thanks to Cheryl Johnson my WordPress blog has something different in the sidebar NOW. Hyperlocal content - my Outside blogs via RSS I don't post the same content on my WordPress.org blog that I post to my ActiveRain Outside Blogs. My WordPress.org blog is not as hyperlocal as my two ActiveRain Outside blogs are. *Occasionally there's some overlap... events, holidays. Cheryl wrote in her tutorial: "Note: If you are publishing the same information on both blogs, you probably don't want to do it, but if your WordPress blog covers other material, go for it!"

wordpress: Letters from Camp, WordCamp Columbus - 05/20/09 07:39 AM
I went to WordCamp Columbus Satuday.... they weren't so much letters from camp as they were tweets #wccbus. There were lots of tweets after thanking @wyliemac and @blantonious for organizing the first WordCamp Columbus. @wyliemac and @blantonious actually go by Alvin Borromeo and Jason Blanton in real life. There were tweets during WordCamp though too, letters home from camp. I am looking forward to reading more reviews of the event. wordpress: WordPress Wednesday - 03/25/09 05:44 AM
I guess it is supposed to be Wordless Wednesday… I did my first Wordless Wednesday post last Wednesday, here. I am not sure how I liked Wordless Wednesday.* I am kind of a word person. I kinda think of Wordless Wednesday as a cult. O.K. I joined the Wordless Wednesday blogging cult. WordCamp Columbus is Saturday May 16, 2009. Are you going? Everything you always wanted to know about WordCamp Columbus If you are in Central Ohio or nearby and have a WordPress.org blog or are thinking about trying a WordPress.org blog register. * Not knowing if I liked “Wordless
