Olympia Area Favorites - Dirty Dave's Pizza - 08/25/09 01:47 PM

Dirty Dave's Pizza & Spaghetti Parlor (www.dirtydavespizza.com) restaurant has been a family favorite of ours for years.  It features some yummy pizza concoctions, including unusual ingredients like cashews (very yummy by the way!!) as well as pasta dishes, sandwiches, salads (my fav is the shrimp salad with blue cheese dressing!) or salad bar, etc.
I think its casual, family-friendly atmosphere is part of what makes this a super popular place as well as the commitment to supporting the local community, especially youth and local sports teams of all ages.  Almost nightly there will be some local team of kids or adults taking over … (0 comments)

Sand in the City was a Blast!! - 08/23/09 04:55 PM
I got to enjoy this year's Sand in the City in Olympia with my son and my little 2 year old granddaughter - & what fun it was!  The sand sculptures are just amazing - so much detail and very witty besides!

Everything from scenes out of Madagascar and Ice Age to tugboat eating crabs!

Watching the master sculptors at work was fascinating, too, as they meticulously added detail to their work.

And besides lots of music to enjoy, the Hands on Children's Museum had plenty of craft tables to entice children to make a mosaic necklace or … (4 comments)

Sand in the City in Olympia This Weekend! - 08/21/09 07:27 PM
Olympia's 9th annual Sand in the City event is this weekend!  Teams sculpt absolutely amazing creations out of sand, all ready to view in the Port Plaza along Budd Inlet.  If you enjoyed building sand castles as a child, you will wonder how in the world these elaborate sand sculptures are done!
On Saturday (8/22) from 10 AM til 7 PM you can tour the sculptures and vote for your favorite.  There will also be live music, activities and crafts galore for kids including giant sandboxes for them to play in!  Then on Sunday from 10 AM til 4 PM it is grandparents day … (0 comments)

Olympia's Pet Parade! - 08/12/09 05:58 PM
If you love to see cute pets, cute kids and creative costumes on both, as well as decorated bikes, trikes and wagons - you will LOVE Olympia's annual pet parade happening this coming Saturday!  And if you have a cute kid (with or without a cute pet), it is not too late to plan to participate in the parade.
This is the 80th Pet Parade and it is a very cool community event, now sponsored by The Olympian newspaper.  Participants don't need to pre-register but should gather in Heritage Park downtown by Capitol Lake for judging between 8:30 and 9:45 before the parade … (2 comments)

One Size, One Floor Plan Does NOT Fit All! - 08/08/09 06:25 PM
In real estate, you often hear "location, location, location" because the location of a property is so important to its value and desirability - and it's a pretty hard item to change!  A house is where it is, and short of moving it, that location better be one that you like!  I think the floor plan of a house comes close to being that important as well.  It is relatively easy to repaint, change out floor coverings, counters, appliances etc - but if the floor plan really doesn't fit your needs, changing it may go from an expensive remodel all the way … (2 comments)
