How Long Has It Been Since You Made a Paper Airplane?? - 02/24/12 09:01 AM
How long has it been since you made a paper airplane?? Just thinking about it gives you that urge to fold up some paper and let it fly, right? If you are near the Olympia area this coming Saturday, February 25, 2012, you can not only give in to that urge but also show your kids how it's done. The event starts at 1:00 PM at the Olympic Flight Museum, 7637-A Old Highway 99 SE, and is open to all ages. There will be instruction in folding in various ways and techniques to fly those planes with distance and accuracy. The

No WONDER We're Having Trouble Finding You a Home Mr & Mrs First Time Buyer - 02/22/12 01:30 PM
We are beginning to see a whole lot of multiple offer scenarios in the Olympia/Lacey/Tumwater area when working with buyers in the $175,000 and under price bracket. Since the media is still blasting the news that it's a buyer's market, this can come as quite a shock to a buyer when they repeatedly find themselves competing, and getting beat out on homes they would like to buy (even when making good solid offers, not low ball attempts). So today I was playing around with a search to see if my hunch about our listing inventory was true - and oh yes,

Free Energy Efficiency Upgrades for Thurston County Manufactured Home Owners - 02/21/12 11:38 AM
Puget Sound Energy is offering free energy efficiency upgrades to owners of manufactured homes in Thurston County. This program will be offered all year, and is a great way for customers who live in these homes to lower their energy bills and increase their comfort - for free! Qualifying customers are those whose manufactured homes have electric forced air as their primary heat source, and who have not already taken advantage of previous energy-efficiency upgrades. Puget Sound Energy estimates there may be over 12,000 customers in Thurston County whose homes would qualify for this great way to save some money. And

One Awesome Thing About Being in Real Estate - I Know "Guys" - 02/16/12 06:53 PM
I think most all of us real estate agents tend to accumulate lists of great resources like electricians, plumbers, roofers, handymen, contractors, etc. Our clients often ask for recommendations and we typically monitor closely to see if the referrals we make pan out well for our clients (and if not, off the list they come!) So it's a very useful side benefit that when I have a personal need for a good tradesperson of most any type, I know who has a great reputation for knowledge, reliability, fair prices, and good work ethic. How cool is that? When I need a

Do You Follow The Rules?? - 02/14/12 10:29 AM
Do you follow the rules? You know all those rules having to do with driving a car, filing your taxes, buying or selling real estate, keeping your word to other people? And do you expect others to follow the rules as well? I've been thinking about how much of our daily lives depends to some extent on our belief that other people will....most of the time....follow the rules. When the light turns red, they will stop their car and wait for green. When they drive down the road, they will stay on their side of that road. Most of

Honey, What Color Did We Paint the Living Room?? Lowes Can Help You Keep Track - 02/13/12 06:37 PM
Quick now - do you know the name of the paint color you used in your living room? And do you know what year it was you replaced the dishwasher? OK, maybe a few of you are those highly organized folks who DO know and have a wonderfully color coordinated filing system of all your household receipts ready to access easily. But....hopefully I'm not the only one that tends to ...um.....NOT be that organized. Lowes has come up with a clever tool with their MyLowes card for tracking purchases. If you have ever hunted in vain in the

Percival Landing Park in Olympia - 02/11/12 04:19 PM
Percival Landing Park in Olympia is a wonderful destination for children who want to play at a playground or adults who want to stroll along the waterfront or relax as they gaze at Budd Inlet. There are climbing toys, slides, and spinning toys, with separate areas for the younger kids and the older. The climbing toys at Percival Landing Park give kids the chance to get pretty creative about how they move from bar to bar or along the footstool type portions, enticing both the preschoolers and the older, daring kids. And Percival Landing Park's boardwalk and

The Olympia Snowstorm WAS Really Beautiful! (I Say That Now That It's Gone) - 02/07/12 02:03 PM
From today's vantage point of sunshine and really mild, springlike weather, I think I can look back at the pictures I took during Olympia's big snow and ice storm - and actually appreciate them. When we were in the midst of being snowbound, hearing falling trees and cracking branches all around, and wondering WHEN our power would come back on - well, I noticed the beauty of the wintry scene....but couldn't really appreciate it. First came snow....and more snow....and still more snow. How exciting to be among the areas with the deepest accumulation in the Puget Sound area!
