home: Consumer Should Take Responsibility for Selecting a Realtor - 01/09/11 02:39 AM
Today I read a blog by Evanston, Illinois Realtor®, Alan May, Coldwell Banker. I have come to know Alan to write informative blogs for not only public review but for professional view as well. His blog spoke about the "average" Realtor®. It is my humble opinion, that the buying/selling public should bear some responsibility for the selection of their representation in a real estate transaction. It isn't fair for the public to lay blame for "average", poor and bad respresentation on their choice of a Realtor®. We are in an age where information is readily assessible to the public. As any parent, expects

home: Reflections of a Realtor...Thank You to My Clients - 07/22/10 01:59 AM
Ever just smile to yourself and think "I love my chosen career path"? Each day provides me with an opportunity to assist someone in making a good decision about where they live. Today wasn't any particularly special or particularly stressful day. It had its good points and its low points. It was a day however, that made me smile when I finally had answered all the calls, responded to all the emails, made all the appointments for tomorrow, scanned all the paperwork to the appropriate people, looked up answers to the unanswered questions, and did a prestart of paperwork for tomorrow.

home: It is Garage Sale Season...A Seller's Valuable and Profitable Tool - 05/20/10 06:04 PM
It's garage sale season in Toledo, Ohio and around the country. If you are currently thinking about selling your home or have your house for sale it is always a good idea to step back and take a look at your home through a prospective buyer's eyes. With that in mind, think about all the "stuff" that we all seem to collect and hang onto over the years. Sellers this is a great way to de-clutter, de-stress and make your next move easier. I am no exception and hoping to follow my own advice here. A great way to reduce the

home: What drives home/house values? - 05/20/10 02:32 AM
Factors that help to determine a home's value can be, the job market, household incomes, school systems, mortgage rates, incentive programs, affordability as well as a property's amenities and location. It goes without saying that buyers look at the number of bedrooms and baths along with the basic size of the home. Today's buyers are also looking for updated or remodeled kitchens and baths, a family room or "great room," larger garages, additional storage area and an outdoor living area, such as a patio or deck. Most people want a home that they can move into easily without having to spend valuable time making

home: Is Your Toledo, Ohio Listed Home Off the Market? - 04/13/10 12:51 AM
Is your Toledo, Ohio listed home off the market? I ask this question because as a Realtor serving Toledo, Ohio and the surrounding suburbs of Maumee, Perrysburg, Holland, Sylvania, Oregon, Rossford, and Northwood I make calls to listing Realtors on a fairly regular basis to schedule showings for your prospective buyer. It continually amazes and frustrates me how many listing agents do not return calls asking to set a showing. Today being a perfect example. Many folks do not realize just how much ground work goes into assisting a potential buyer. My day started at 8:30 a.m. when I set out to

Affordable homes are still available in Toledo, Ohio and the surrounding area for those hoping to meet the April 30, 2010 deadline for the Federal Housing Tax Credit. Last Thursday I met a nice young couple with 3 small children hoping to cash in on the current housing tax credit. They selected several properties of interest from the list of properties I sent to them in their price range. Last week in Toledo, Ohio, we experienced a taste of Spring with near 70 degree temperatures an took advantage by looking at several of the homes. Some were less than acceptable but

home: Setting Priorities in Home Ownership (renting vs buying) Reality Check - 03/10/10 02:58 PM
Instant gratification has become a cancer in our society, buying everything on a credit card, without regard to paying for it...again it truly is all about being responsible and setting priorities. So many times, I have witnessed new home buyers, overspending on furniture, big screen TV's, motor homes, boats, giving no thought at all to the everyday expenses of housing, utilities, and clothing. They elect to not make the house payment or the rent payment in lieu of having the latest, greatest cell phone or eating out every day for every meal or having the biggest cable channel package available. Where are the

home: First Time Home Buyers - 11/09/09 10:12 PM
Attention 1st time home buyers...by now you have heard about the opportunity from the Federal government with the 10% of purchase price up to $8000.00 tax credit. Truly a wonderful opportunity however it is important for you to follow a progression in seeking out a new home. First it is important to get a pre approval from a quality lender to determine just what your purchasing power is. It doesn't make sense to start looking for a home with a price you have in mind if a bank will not loan you that amount of money. If you start looking in
