When you think of Coastal Carolina, you may think sandy beaches and palm trees. This cow is part of a herd less than a mile from my home in Morehead City. It's cool  to have cows mooing and rooster crowing in the morning while living a coastal life!  The farm is situated along the Newport River which offers quite the view for this fella!

    So, in Real Estate we have Sellers and Buyers.

 Sellers are easy to "see into " as we preview their home and understand their lifestyle, taste and style of living by noticing their personal furnishings, color choices and sentimentals. We know more about them by seeing their surroundings. Sure makes our jobs easier when finding them a new home doesn't it ?

Buyers are quite different! We hear about their tastes, lifestyle and preference for home criteria. We often choose the homes we are going to show from these remarks. Many of us slip in listings that are general to their criteria but considered great for the area.  Many times we end up selling them a home quite different from their original expectations don't we ?! Regardless, we go on their verbalization of what they are looking for and never get to see the home they are moving from.

My point is we can easily get sucked into sticking our foot in our mouth if we aren't careful. When showing homes we need to stand back and allow for the buyer to place themselves in that space ( and for us to  not negatively comment about - colors, features, layouts or finishes ). Remember we haven't  seen their homes- how they live or what their personal preferences are ... More listening, less vocalizing our opinions at this point! 

Why you say ? Well, take Jack my English Bulldog for example! To me he is the cutest thing on Earth! To the local Highway Patrol that stopped me yesterday at a road block for license checks.. well, to him Jack wasn't that great. The officer literally told me 'that is a face only a mother could love!" INSULT! Ouch !

Let's be sure to point out mechanical or structural issues you detect during home showings ( because you are professional and look for items that could harm a sale) ..but.... let the beauty remain int the eye of the buyer/ beholder.

Although teens have been banned from this practice for the last two years, the updated North Carolina law comes into effect December 1, 2009 prohibiting all drivers from texting while driving... Horray!

This has been a concern of mine for quite some time as I have been at close "call" with a driver not paying attention that nearly collided with me on the road traveling at 55 mph. Very scary.

          It is quite the era for "instant everything" but please remember the safety of others and put into reality all the horrific accidents we've seen on TV related to TWD (texting while driving ). Talk to your kids, share this with your friends and most importantly---take this law seriously. It could be your life saved or the lives of others around you.
