As Tropical Storm Hanna exits Carteret County with her strong Tropical Storm winds ( up to 74 mph) and gusty rain bands...I am once again reminded how powerful nature can be and how it it necessary to plan ahead using the Hurrican Preparedness Kit I posted about last season. Along with wind and rain squawls we are warned of tornado threats. Yesterday water spouts/ funnels were reported in Carteret County. Carteret County is known for pristine beaches..we are nicknames the Crystal Coast of North Carolina.
I love the relaxation and family time the beach provides....
But I also know the hazards that pose a threat to my visit if I don't know my surroundings...

Today was a wonderful sunny day to join a friend who just retired out of corporate relocation and moved here full time to live the casual lifestyle of Carteret County. Lynn asked me to recommend a good place for lunch with hopes of sitting outside with waterviews...
I chimed in with the perfect spot !
Key West Seafood Company is a landmark on the Morehead City Waterfront and offers a casual atmosphere inside and out with an excellent menu. We met on the the outside deck with full sun and watched the boats go by as well as a sail boat dock … (2 comments)

I have been test driving Digital Phone service recently added by our local cable provider
Time Warner Cable. I have used the phone now for four months and really have been pleased.
The phone service is 39.00 / month with unlimited long distance and local calls. Great for calling clients from home after hours. I pay a few bucks more for voice mail.
I have bundled this phone service with my cable tv package and my high speed internet package. I am reporting I have been very happy with the phone service. The only complaint is that if the cable or power is out- … (2 comments)
