When you think of Coastal Carolina, you may think sandy beaches and palm trees. This cow is part of a herd less than a mile from my home in Morehead City. It's cool to have cows mooing and rooster crowing in the morning while living a coastal life! The farm is situated along the Newport River which offers quite the view for this fella!

As Tropical Storm Hanna exits Carteret County with her strong Tropical Storm winds ( up to 74 mph) and gusty rain bands...I am once again reminded how powerful nature can be and how it it necessary to plan ahead using the Hurrican Preparedness Kit I posted about last season. Along with wind and rain squawls we are warned of tornado threats. Yesterday water spouts/ funnels were reported in Carteret County. My husband and I moved to Greenville in Eastern North Carolina nearly 20 years ago and at every opportunity we found ourselves driving to the Crystal Coast on the weekends to "recharge our batteries". With two toddlers at the time we enjoyed the sun and surf as well as the casualness of the town. Carteret County offered us the ability to vacation or get-away without the neon lights and razzle dazzle other coastal towns gimmick themselves with. It truly is a family oriented coast.

crystal coast: Hurricane Noel Brings Strong Winds to The Crystal Coast - 11/02/07 11:17 AM
Hurricane Noel is currently off our North Carolina coast but headed north and offshore.
We are fortunate this storm will not be making landfall within our state. Noel is already responsible for over 180 deaths in the Caribbean. Fortunately this storm has diminshed in strength to a category one but still is packing a punch with strong winds and gusts.
Coastal homeowners and residents are urged to secure lose items from yards and porches. Flood warnings are also in effect thru the weekend. At the moment we are not seeing any rain but are experiencing windy conditions.

Summer may be half way over but North Carolina Fishing Tournaments are still heated up!
As many of you know I love watching the competition amongst anglers and seeing what they bring in to the weigh station.
My favorite being The Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament based right here in Morehead City. Theres a saying in Carteret County that there are more boats per capita than peolpe ! It just may be true! If you live in Carteret County you most likely know water is a way of life !

I have a son who is a Senior this year at East Carteret High School
GO MARINERS!! (Beau #33)
and a Husband who coaches at the University of North Carolina..... GO HEELS !
That means alot of football for the next several months!!!I am not complaining, it is a great source of socialization, networking and of course having a bit of FUN!

My dilemna: I have been really putting a focus on learning more about getting web presence and have so much to learn. My mind spins with all the information available and all the different avenues one can choose to take to build credibility and a strong base for attracting both buyers and sellers to my "flypaper". It is easy for me to get distracted and lose focus of the task at hand.

As I review my ads for the upcoming Crystal Coast Homes Magazine it occurred to me that 12 of my 16 listings were from clients I have never met in person!
Most came to me via my personal website and all corresponding has been via technology unavailable to my profession even 10 yrs ago. I remember typing contracts with carbon paper, using snail mail to get listings signed by out of town sellers and waiting of course for them to get back to my box. It is finally summer and I am so excited ! I for one enjoy warm weather and the activities that it allows. As I take the dogs for a walk today I am aware that my summer has familiar sounds and I got to thinking how each place I've lived offers its own "voice".
