I agree with these statistic quoted from Rent.com For some time I have been saying, "where are all the displaced people going to go after their shortsales or foreclosure? The will only stay with family an average of less than 6 months. I am also getting inquires from many people looking for rentals. In many areas in our vacinity, your mortgage would be less than rents in comparable properties. Why Rent when you could Own? A little know fact about closing costs, specifically title and escrow costs is that you don't have to go with a local company where the property is located. In fact if you are investing in southern California, you could save thousands (if it is a large purchase) or at least hundreds by opening that escrow (combined with title) in a northern state branch of your favorite company!
