taxes: California Cancellation of Debt Tax forgiveness - Straight from the "Horses Mouth" - 04/14/10 10:20 AM
To see the details of SB401 go to the link below: This is the best form of risk management, if you are trying to help a client; by referring them to a third party. Let them take this info to their tax preparer or get expert advice from a qualified individual or reach their own conclusion. We can only point them in the right direction, they must be fully responsible for their own decision and therefore the consequences. taxes: Tea Party Patriots to Gather at the Capitol on April 15th - 04/12/10 10:52 AM
Tax payers are watching! This group intends to send a message to the legislators, that the taxpayers are indeed paying attention to the activities in local government. The silent majority is no longer silently sitting by and being governed to. They want representation in the process and want that to be known. This will play a part in who gets elected in June & November. This is not a protest or radicals marching, it is meant to be an awareness of the growth and involvement in this grass roots effort. Would you consider going to the capitol to join them?

taxes: CA back in allignment with IRS Cancellation of Debt - Forgiveness Act - 04/09/10 11:30 PM
The Governor has announced he will sign the speedily processed and amended CA debt relief act, helping people that have lost a home to foreclosure or short sales from having the cancellation of debt amount added and taxed along with their ordinary income. This puts California back in alignment with the IRS, it is also retroactive back to Jan 2009 when we moved away from the IRS policy. There is fine print, it doesn't cover every situation, so be sure to have YOUR tax preparer review your unique circumstances. http://www.kcra.com/video/23096308/index.html Good video for an over view of the process.

taxes: The song of the Mosquito. Your VOTE counts! - 11/03/08 10:52 AM
There is some apathy about voting, yet it often is over looked as a governing source on what property taxes we pay. Here in California we have the protection of Proposition 13 (which thankfully the masses voted for) to restrict how much our property taxes can go up. However many local bonds are voted upon and do wind up being collected with our taxes. So make sure you read through the propositions and local measures. They affect all those in specific areas whether they voted or not! The person, who thinks one small voice is not heard, never slept in a
