customer service: My Favorite Local Business This Tuesday - Perfection Tire & Automotive - 04/10/12 10:07 PM
Today I had an appointment in the neighboring town of Newport, Washington. As soon as I arrived there and stopped my pickup, I saw steam boiling out from under the hood.
Oh Oh... now what?
I was right on time for the appointment so went ahead and while I was there I asked for recommendations of who to call or where to go. I knew I wasn't driving the 20 miles home until something was done.
The name I got was Perfection Tire & Automotive.
So I borrowed the phone book and after getting the hood open … (3 comments)

customer service: I'm Not a WalMart Fan, But... - 02/06/12 07:08 PM
I'm not a big fan of WalMart. They buy too much of their merchandise from overseas to suit my taste. Since I've quit buying anything that says "Made in China," I restrict most of my shopping there to the grocery aisles. But... it's only right to give credit where credit is due. We visited the Ponderay WalMart last night when the store was not crowded. There was only one regular checker working and I sighed as I realized that the person ahead of me had a rather large basket full of merchandise. But... much to my delight, the two ladies standing … (6 comments)

customer service: It all Depends Upon Who Answers the Phone - 01/23/12 05:15 PM
Not too long ago I wrote about how after 6 months of frustration, one more call to Wild Blue solved my problem of not being able to view my own domains on my own computer.
That time, I was connected with a woman who listened, understood what I was saying, and knew how to solve it immediately.
Today I had a simialr experience, this time with DirecTV.
I don't pay much attention to the television, but my husband does. So last night when all he could get was a "Searching for Satellite" message on the screen, I called … (6 comments)

customer service: What Can You "Leave Out" for Your Clients? - 12/08/11 07:08 PM
First, if you're subscribed to my weekly real estate ezine, skip this post. This is the message that went out this morning to my subscribers...
That said... Have you ever thought about what you can "leave out" for your clients?
Most of the time marketers talk about the added value they or their products offer to customers and clients.
But maybe what you take away or "leave out" could be just as important. And maybe you should be talking about that in your marketing messages.
For instance:
For your home sellers you can leave out the uncertainty … (3 comments)

customer service: I've Always Loved Mondays... - 11/22/11 05:13 AM
I've always looked forward to Mondays as a fresh start with new opportunities. Some of them don't quite make the grade, but today was exceptionally good.
First I found a phone message from a new client. Well, she wasn't a client just then, but she is now. And for that I have to thank some other copywriter - the one who didn't return her phone calls and took 4 days to return an email. Whoever you are - thanks for not tending to business!
My new client sounded astonished when I returned her call within an hour of the time … (8 comments)

customer service: Acres and Acres of Car Parts, But Unpleasant Service - 05/12/11 04:05 AM
First, to clarify, I love my truck. But it has had a few problems lately. It has a right – it does have about 220,000 miles on it…
The most recent involved the tilt steering wheel. It had been a bit “wobbly,” but two weeks ago, when I was doing errands in town, it started acting very strange. Every time I turned the wheel it made a loud clicking noise. It still steered OK, so I started for home.
But then the horn started honking!
You can imagine how dumb I felt, pulling out of a parking lot and … (5 comments)

customer service: Shoo! You customer, get away and don't come back! (My Rant for the Day) - 03/16/11 05:37 PM
Right now I'm steaming just a bit, and wondering what we're going to do.
This story starts months ago, when my neighbor started talking about Rocky Mountain Oysters. You've seen me talk about him before - he's in his 80's, a cancer survivor, and has a small herd of cattle. During calving season (right now), my husband is up there almost every day, helping with something.
Sometimes I'm there too, when the situation calls for more hands.
Anyway, his birthday is tomorrow, so last week I got a notion to get him some Rocky Mountain Oysters for a surprise. They aren't … (9 comments)

customer service: My Shocking Habit - 02/19/11 05:10 PM
At least, shocking to some.
First thing this morning I got a phone call from a gentleman in Texas who had purchased a set of my Expired Listing Letters yesterday, and he wanted to ask a couple of questions.
That's not unusual - I get a call every once in a while asking me things like "How long do you think I should wait to send the second letter?"
What was interesting about this morning's call was that the gentleman just couldn't get over the fact that I had picked up the phone. He kept saying things like "Oh wow, I … (12 comments)
