Go figure! Another wild front rolled through dropping the temps and buckets of rain, plus high winds from the North West! Made fishing tough on the main part of Goose. Some of our anglers were able to put together good patterns on big fish in spite of the weather. This weeks winners were Dean & Tracey Shinler with a 5 bag limit of 16.46lbs! Talk about a change in weather, all week it was in the 90's and VERY humid, until good old Windy Wednesday! We were greeted at the docks at Flickabirds with chilly North winds. Did we get lucky! As we were easing out of Flickabirds on East Rush lake the weather forecasters were saying we were in for a nasty nasy night! And boy, were they close! Lucky for us anglers, the bad weather consisting of golf ball sized hail and bigger stayed to the South in the Harris and Stark areas. Where, unfortunately a number of our fellow competitors live. Last night in Northern Chisago County and across Minnesota it turned ugly, and FAST! We had our Wednesday Night Bass League on Rush Lake in Chisago County. Prior to our take off at 6 pm, we watched the weather report and nasty storms were in the forecast. Here is the Report from Channel 5 EyeWitness news including pictures. We watched the drama unfold from the lake in our boats, the clouds and lightning was incredible. Lucky for us we were just North of the storm, only 2 miles South was a completely different story. What a night! Like clockwork, Goose Lake in Chisago County did not fail us on super bass! In fact! The top 5 bass weighed in at a whopping 22.64lbs! (Too bad that wasn't one bag!) We had hot humid weather but thankfully not alot of wind. Top finishers this week were Tim Lindstrom and Brandon Dosch! (Tim's dad said he let him win since it was Tim's 20th Birthday!) As you know the 4th of July is on a Wednesday this year. It is an annual tradition, friends and family come up to our house on West Rush Lake here in Minnesota. The problem, is it is a Wednesday! Do we invite people up the weekend before, or the weekend after? Our weekend consists of lots of camp fires, swimming in the lake, fishing, and just fun!
What are other peoples plans for the 4th?

The Classic Bob Seger song "Running with the Wind" pretty much somes up another Windy Wednesday! Very strong winds from the South East greeted our hardy anglers as we idled out from the docks at Flickabirds on East Rush Lake. The unbeaten Father/Son Team brought in another great bag of 5 bass weighing in at 15.86 lbs, with Bigg Bass for the night as a kicker of 4.96! We started out with a bang! Our first tournament of the year was based out of Flickabirds on East Rush Lake and we had a full field of 15 boats! The weather got a little scary, but apparently not scary enough for these hardy anglers! Strong winds from the South, with the threat of thunderstorms greeted us as we eased off at 6:00pm. Located just an hour North of the Minneapolis St Paul airport on 35 you will find Rush Lake! The largest lake in Chisago County. This is truly a recreational paradise, with it split about halfway between year round residents and weekend cabin owners.

My poor, poor wife, Every Mother's day weekend she is stuck with my buddies and I for the weekend, isn't that every womans dream for Mothers Day? My buddies, and my brothers, affectionately call our Rush Lake home their cabin. This year like others before, we will be spending fishing opener on Rush Lake in Chisago County Minnesota. You can find me in the wind, the rain, and cold, promptly at midnight Saturday on a favorite fishing spot on West Rush Lake.

It's a Rainy Friday here in Minnesota, and only a week away from Fishing Opener! If you are NOT a Minnesotan you may not understand the importance of Fishing Opener. Tourism is a $10 Billion industry here in Minnesota, and Fishing Opener is the first hurrah! With Millions of anglers loading there boats and heading to there favorite lakes in search of old Marble eyes. (The Walleye!) So, I guess that is a long winded response, to my question! Actually here in Minnesota we have 11,842 lakes in Minnesota that are 10 acres or larger! Here in Chisago County, we are truly blessed with lakes! We have 64 lakes in Chisago County that the DNR has catalagued.
Having a place on the lake is a dream that most of us Minnesotans have shared. But, what does it cost to get on a lake. Well, here is a snapshot of lake home prices here in Chisago County.
