climate: “Some like it hot” but I guess I’m in the minority because I love cold weather. - 12/06/11 07:59 AM

When I moved to Georgia nearly forty years ago, I was glad to escape the bitter cold winters and the frigid winds of Western Pennsylvania.
And even though we occasionally have cold spells and even snow and ice storms, the winters here in Newnan Georgia are relatively moderate compared to other regions in the country.
Call me crazy, but I miss the cold weather. I thrive in the wake of icy blasts and revel in the sensation of an Arctic wind that cuts right through you. It really gets me going! And nothing tastes better when you are chilled to the … (23 comments)

climate: It’s hard to sell real estate when the temperature is “sweltering!” - 08/04/10 08:19 AM

It has been one hot summer here in Newnan Georgia. There have been more ninety degree plus day this year than in any previous year that I can recall.
And when you add in the extremely high humidity, the so-called “heat index” has been over a hundred degrees for many days in a row. Yesterday, as the sweat was pouring as I installed yard signs on my new listings, the word “sweltering” popped into my head.
I never really thought much of the word ‘sweltering,” but the use of the term in describing our climatic condition has never been more appropriate.

climate: There’s snow business like snow business! - 02/14/10 07:27 AM

I heard an interesting item yesterday on the news. The reporter stated that for the first time since records have been kept, that there was at least some snow on the ground somewhere in 49 of the 50 United States! Hawaii was the only exception.
And although most of us are weary of winter weather stories and are ready for warmer temperatures, that really is an amazing declaration. Even Florida had some snow on the ground in it’s northern region.
