continuing education: A survey asking real estate agents and brokers if they want MORE CE? - 03/31/12 05:10 AM

I received an email request from the Georgia Association of Realtors asking me to complete an online survey regarding continuing education.
The Georgia Real Estate Commission, which oversees real estate licensees in the state, is considering increasing the number of mandatory continuing education hours during each license period.
Currently, the minimum requirement is 24 hours for each 4 year renewal period, which translated to a paltry 6 hours per year.
My position on the survey was clear … YES to more CE hours. Double them!

When I obtained my Georgia real estate license in 1984, the continuing educational requirements were quite simple. A few post-license course and six hours a year were all that was required to maintain a license and sell real estate.
And while the Georgia legal minimum educational requirement to MAINTAIN a license has not changed over the years, the necessity of more continuing education to SELL real estate is more apparent than ever.

continuing education: In my continuing quest to educate myself I will be continually educated today! - 11/10/09 04:15 AM

I'm off to an early start this morning because I have to be in Cleveland Georgia (about a two hours drive) by 9:00 A.M. today for an all day continuing education class.
And although I have plenty of C.E. real estate credits, this eight hour course is required to maintain my Georgia Auctioneer license. Auctioneer licenses in Georgia are renewed every two years, and I definitely don't want to give mine up for not meeting the licensure requirements.
