coweta fayette real esate: A day that I will never forget as long as I live. A Moonday Motivator on the fortieth anniversary of the first man on the moon! - 07/20/09 07:05 AM
Forty years ago today, an amazing feat occurred. Nearly everyone that had access to a television was glued to the set as astronaut Neil Armstrong stepped off the strut of the lunar module on to the surface of the moon.
It didn't matter that he misspoke his historic quote, which should have been "that's one small step for A man, one giant leap for mankind" by leaving out the article. The event was of such a momentous proportion that the minor slip was ignored.
The late Walter Cronkite was moved to tears as President Kennedy's dream was fulfilled. The "Space Race" … (26 comments)

coweta fayette real esate: Around Newnan Georgia, they call me the "Butterfly Bush" man! Tips on growing these popular summer bloomers! - 06/13/09 05:40 PM
The Butterfly Bush (Buddleia davidii) is a native of China that does very well in the Southeastern United States. The rapidly growing shrubs profusely produce pointed clusters of white, pink, blue, purple or even yellow blooms.
In addition to that, they attract large numbers of butterflies and hummingbirds. The fragrant flowers begin blooming in early June, and perfume the summer air with their sweet fragrance.
By pruning the spent clusters, you can encourage new blooms all the way up until the first frost.
The bushes need to be cut back in winter to encourage new growth which produces the highest numbers … (16 comments)

coweta fayette real esate: Sometimes I think that selling real estate in today's market is like tilting at windmills! - 06/06/09 06:53 AM
In the novel Don Quixote, by Miguel de Cervantes, the title hero espies what he perceives to be giants on the horizon, arms flailing, ripe for attack. He salivates at the possibility of sufficient spoils to continue his quests,
But his trusted squire Sancho sees only windmills, with their sails turning the mechanisms that will grind the grain for bread. Sancho knows that his lord's aspirations are futile. And so the English idiom "tilting at windmills" has come to mean "fighting an unwinnable battle."
It seems that a lot of real estate agents today are indeed tilting at windmills. We perceive … (25 comments)

coweta fayette real esate: I have just one question for our various state governmental authorities: Where did all of the money go? - 06/02/09 07:51 AM
I wrote a post last night about cutbacks and the potential closing of state parks in Georgia that got me to thinking: Where does all of the money collected by the states go?
In Georgia, we pay both a 6% state income tax and at least a 6% sales tax including local options. (In some areas as high as an 8% sales tax.) That's a pretty high combination of tax levies compared to aggregate levels in other states.
I mean really, when you speak specifically about the state  and the amount of revenue that is collected, verses the amount that is spent, you have to … (55 comments)

coweta fayette real esate: Despite what you might think, the real estate agent is working harder than ever to make the deal happen, and is earning every penny the hard way! - 05/28/09 07:52 AM
There is a common perception that the real estate agent has a lot less work to do today, thanks to technology and the Internet. Buyers are able to "shop" online and easily identify properties that nay be good prospects to purchase.
But if you were to ask any real estate agent this question: "now that the Internet allows buyers to find their open houses, isn't job of the real estate agent much easier?" you mighty be surprised at the answer.
Many deals are constantly under assault by any one of a number of issues that seek to interrupt the process. Delays … (65 comments)

coweta fayette real esate: Sometimes the climb to the top is fraught with peril, and it may require helping hands to play it safe. - 05/20/09 06:55 AM
We all want to ascend in the ranks of our respective professions. It is, after all, the reason that we continue to read and to study about new ways of conducting business in a technological age.
But that's not to say that there will not be any bumps in the road ahead. Nor does it suggest that risks should not be undertaken.
There is rarely a golden staircase that will take you to the pinnacle of achievement, More often than not, it is metaphorically closer to a rickety ladder propped precariously against a wall.
And while one can go it alone, … (15 comments)

coweta fayette real esate: The recession has "bottomed out?" Interesting announcement from the mainstream press. - 05/17/09 07:22 PM
I happened to catch NBC's nightly news tonight, and it was proclaimed that the recession may have bottomed out. It seems that reports from every sector seem to indicate that the downslide has slowed considerably, the results are inconclusive but promising.
And while it may not be time to uncork the champagne just yet, it's refreshing to see at least a hint of optimism from the national press corps.
And with higher consumer confidence, and amazingly low real estate interest rates and low property prices, there will be an onslaught of new buyers entering the market. If you combine those factors with incentives being … (21 comments)
