In Georgia, it’s pretty easy to get a real estate license. As a matter of fact, it can be done online in your spare time at very little expense and inconvenience. The expectation is 75 hours of instruction.
Interestingly enough, it can take about two years of school and real world training to get a license to cut hair.
Think about that!
A real estate license merely denotes legal authority. A licensee can legally operate in the real estate arena subject to the rules and regulations of governing authorities.

Although the ranks of licensed agents and brokers have thinned somewhat over the last few years, there are still a lot of people engaged in the real estate profession.
And I often get the complaint that there are simply too many agents for the amount of business that is out there.
I have a standard response to that particular lament:
“Assume for a moment that you don’t need a license to sell real estate.”
“What would separate the producers from the rest of the general population?

Although I often think that we have come TOO FAR with our dependence on technology, there is no doubt that having instant access to so many tasks right at your fingertips is certainly convenient!
As I write this article, it occurs to me that within minutes readers across the continent will have the opportunity to peruse my diatribe. That’s pretty cool.
I also logged into my business bank accounts this morning and instantly “reloaded” my debit card account so I can buy fuel later. All while sipping my coffee barefooted. That’s pretty cool.

The requirements for real estate licensure vary from state to state. In many jurisdictions, getting a real estate license is a lot easier than getting one to cut hair.
Many suggest that the standard be raised and that more education should be demanded in order to sell real estate.
And while some decry this as a “protectionist” attitude from incumbent agents in order to eliminate competition, I see it differently.
