real estate sales: A personal message to Elvis Presley, Barack Obama, George Jetson and Meg Griffin: - 02/07/12 09:17 AM
Real estate is STILL a people business. The overwhelming majority of real estate transactions still rely on face to face interaction on a personal level.
Real estate agents work very hard to place their product in front of as many potential buyers as possible. It is time consuming and expensive to list property.
So it logically follows that if our marketing efforts generate interest in a property, at some point, the relationship has to be taken to the next level: i.e. a real conversation.
And while I enjoy the creativity you employed in filling out the contact information, I often wonder … (19 comments)

real estate sales: Going around in circles: Houses that sell, and sell, and sell but never close! - 05/15/11 08:55 AM
Despite the public perception of the real estate market, the simple fact is that many people still want to buy houses!
And there are occasionally houses that are such an incredible bargains that they sell very quickly. As a matter of fact, buyers often “get in line” to grab the deal.
But for some reason or another, some of these properties never make it to the closing table. Buyer after buyer goes under contract only to see the transaction evaporate for one reason or another.

Selling any home in … (34 comments)

real estate sales: Has the real estate business become too complex to be a one-person operation? - 09/07/10 07:42 AM

Nobody can deny that the real estate business has changed dramatically over the last twenty years. The proliferation of information technology and the rigors of the market have radically redefined the role of the real estate broker. In many cases, even the showing of properties has become an ancillary activity that has to be worked into an already overburdened schedule. And the mountains of paperwork continue to amass into an almost insurmountable edifice. So is it still possible for a sole proprietor to perform all of the perfunctory tasks associated with a transaction from lead generation all the way through … (121 comments)

real estate sales: Real estate sales is a service business. So please understand when we ask you to schedule our time in advance. - 08/15/10 09:06 AM

I got a call from a nice young man yesterday afternoon. He was here from out of town for the weekend and had found a house on the Internet and wanted to see it right away.
The problem was, my business partner and I were already scheduled out for the day and we were physically unable to set aside enough time to properly help him.
We did manage to squeeze in enough time to show him the house he wanted to see which did not meet his expectations, and then he asked if we had “others” that we could show … (68 comments)
