If you are relocating to the area and have children, education is a high priority. Unfortunately, this area is not known for having the best schools. However if you do your research, you will find there are good schools in Chatham, Effingham, and Bryan Counties. The determination of what makes a school good will depend on individual preferences. I have heard a bunch of praise for a school that another group of people said was horrible. Internet research should be the first step in school determination. It is an inevitable fact of military life that moving is quite common. While it is a scary and can seem quite impossible the first time, you will get better at it. So, you just got your orders and are wondering what's next. The first thing is to do as much research as possible into your new location. Fort Stewart is located west of Savannah in Hinesville, Georgia. Fort Stewart houses the 3rd infantry division along with non-divisional and tenant units. It combines with Hunter Army Airfield to be a world-class training, and military armored power projection combination. This allows military units in the region to deploy rapidly throughout the world. Fort Stewart is by far the bigger of the two with Hunter bringing it's aviation brigade.

Coming from Pennsylvania, I have never been exposed to "communities" or "subdivision". Where I am from, you won't find a subdivision with a community pool or playground. We simply have homes of all different shapes and sizes on streets. So it was a little overwhelming for me when we first moved to Georgia. Savannah is a beautiful area filled with history and different styles. Finding your way around and where you want to live can be a difficult task. I thought I would try to break down different places for different styles of people.
