I know as a parent, it is difficult to find someone to watch the children when you need a night out. It's also hard to find someone trustworthy. If you are just moving here, you are at an even bigger disadvantage. I do not endorse any of these places. The list provided is a result of search for childcare facilities in this area. ...ok, well, may be I am. Are you? In fact, I am not afraid of ghosts because I don't believe in them. However, I do still get that creepy feeling when you walking into a strange new place. My great grandmother's basement was like a dungeon. It had a pull string light located at the bottom of very steep and narrow stairs. I would rush down and turn the light on as fast as I could, get what I needed, turn out the light, and race back up.

The first major change to St. Patrick's Day is it has been moved up to March 14th. It is normally celebrated on the 17th. However due to an edict from a local bishop that decreed festivities should not be held on the Monday of the holy week, the date was changed. So if you are planning a trip here for the parade, you may want to make note of the change. The change has been seen as a good thing locally. With the holiday celebration moved to Friday, people will have more time to spend here for the festivities.

Changes have been proposed for rental properties in Savannah. Alderman Tony Thomas wants a license to be imposed on rental properties. The city can then regulate the maintenance on these rental properties. If a property is not properly maintained, the city can revoke the rental license. The city has dealt with many complaints from homeowners about the conditions of rental properties in their area. If there are no visible signs of code violations on the exterior, the city can not enter a rental property.

I read an article in the paper two days ago. I'll give you one guess what it was about. It was, of course, about the real estate market. It talked about how things were slow in other places, but that the market here is Savannah was not that bad. According to the article, the market here has slowed a little. Looking at the data, I would be inclined to agree. However, I think how you look at the data and what you look at can affect the overall view. You may have heard this, it seems to be the city slogan. But is it true? I guess it depends on your perspective. It certainly is not true in the summer. We are in Georgia though, so heat is to be expected. While Pooler may not be cooler in the weather sense. It is cooler than living in some of the downtown Savannah areas.

A little while ago I posted about the Kodak Dual Lens Wide Angle Camera. I was having a real tough time getting it to work for me. I did a little more research and reading. I bought a tripod. The camera works wonderfully. I also stopped by a local shop to have a lady there show me more ways to improve my photos. So far, everything Jeff Turner said in his post was absolutely correct.

It's not your typical zoo. There aren't any bars, cement floors, or paved pathways. The variety of animals is more limited. However, the animals are in an environment that more closely resembles their natural habitat. In my opinion, it was just as good if not better than some of the bigger typical zoos. It isn't even called a "zoo". It is the Oatland Island Educational Center.

When St, Patrick's Day rolls around, most people let it pass by. There are a few people who will wear their green if they are Irish and orange if they are Catholic. I have never heard of a place that actually goes all out and celebrates it like they do here in Savannah.

Coming from Pennsylvania, I have never been exposed to "communities" or "subdivision". Where I am from, you won't find a subdivision with a community pool or playground. We simply have homes of all different shapes and sizes on streets. So it was a little overwhelming for me when we first moved to Georgia. Savannah is a beautiful area filled with history and different styles. Finding your way around and where you want to live can be a difficult task. I thought I would try to break down different places for different styles of people.
