Today the Georgia Department of Community Affairs announced a new down payment assistance option to its Georgia Dream Homeownership Program. The Georgia Dream "Plus" option offers down payment and closing cost assistance for first time home buyers with incomes up to 100% of their Area Median Incomes (AMI). Georgia Dream's down payment assistance options are normally restricted to borrowers whose incomes are at or below 80% AMI. The Georgia Dream Homeownership Program makes purchasing a home more affordable for low-to-moderate income families and individuals by offering fixed, low-interest rate mortgages loans.
The Georgia Dream NSP Purchase Program was created to encourage the purchase of foreclosed properties. Funds utilized are an allocation of federal dollars received by the Department of Community Affairs from the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008.
