comments: ActiveRain - What Kind of Name Are You Making For Yourself?
- 10/01/11 02:19 AM
In today's class we'll talk about our comments in ActiveRain. Further let's pay attention to what is at the bottom of each of our comments. That's right - it's our name and our company reference! When we make a great comment on somebody's post, they can click it because it is a hyperlink. It will take them to our ActiveRain profile page where they can learn about us. Hopefully they go further, check out our blog and perhaps even comment back on our posts!

comments: Getting Points for Comments (In More Ways Than One)

How many times do you see a very short comment and think "I guess they didn't know there was a minimum length to get your 25 points for the comment!" We love meaningful comments! Making comments in ActiveRain is very much part of our routine. Yes we do get points for the comments (called incentive) but the comments are integral to what makes AR so interesting. If you've ever blogged "on the outside" you know what it's like to work hard on a post and then the crickets chirp as you wait for somebody, anybody to answer. (at least when you first start) However, from your very first blog post in AR, you get a few comments and each post that you do you gain more associates and subscribers and the discussion gets better all (135 comments)
ActiveRain is all about active CONVERSATIONS and that is a very cool thing. Because of the point system, people have incentive to make comments. (25 points ea., up to 10 comments for credit per day for comments you make on blog posts which aren't your own) I blogged for a while outside of ActiveRain and quickly lost interest in creating new articles. I did get comments but they were all SPAM. These are the comments where people leave the same generic comment on a bazillion blogs hoping to get clicks for their URL. But as you know AR is different.
