facebook: Facebook Ticker - See Your Friends Interactions - 01/07/13 03:07 PM
Facebook has an optional sidebar panel that you can turn on that gives you an interesting perspective of what your facebook friends are up to at this very moment. The regular newsfeed shows things that your friends post. However the "ticker" panel on the sidebar shows their other real-time actions like commenting on posts and liking posts.
This gives you more content to browse that is oftentimes relevant to you as well. Your friends are your friends because you share common interests - so I find there is often interesting things going on in the ticker feed as well.

If you have joined Google+, you'll know what circles are. It is a way to group your friends-family-associates into groups. When you post something, you can share with the world ("public") or you can limit who you share with by applying only to a circle. Inversely, if it feels like you have subscribed to SO MANY people and you look at your main feed, it is like drinking water out of a fire hose, then circles are also great. facebook: Is Facebook Doing this to Your Posts? "I Want Thumbnails!" - 02/04/12 01:36 PM
I don't know about you, but somewhere in the stream of time, Facebook stopped offering thumbnails of photos from my ActiveRain posts when I post on FB. The ONLY photo it offers now is my avatar. Hmmm, what's up with that?
Now, wait a minute Facebook, you don't do this when I post links from other websites! I did this FB post the other day and you gave me a choice of the graphics that were in the post as my Thumbnail image!
Ok, so the "workaround" brainstorming session began. This will not do!

Social media wars are on! You've likely seen the news but here's a quick recap of a great new feature we now have available to us: Video Calls. I know you are on Facebook. That's a given. Would you post different types of things if you knew it wasn't going to go out to ALL of your 150 friends (that is if you are a typical candidate of Dunbar's Number). Quite likely you may have "friended" quite a few more that that!

When your list of Friends and "Liked" pages in Facebook gets long it is sometimes hard to keep up with certain people. The newsfeed updates so frequently that you might totally miss out certain status updates. My first post on ActiveRain was called "Facebook - Don't Miss Your Most Important People" and it tells you how and why you'd want to create lists in Facebook.

In a recent blog post, I had written about creating lists in Facebook so that you can keep up with your friends' latest news. Sometimes your news feed throws so much at you in a news feed TIDAL WAVE that you might be missing quite a bit that certain friends are posting (see that article here)
