Gone are the days when a handshake could consummate a Real Estate transaction. Today, buying or selling a home is more like a technicolor experience. The "Offer to Purchase and Contract", the standard document used here in North Carolina is a very intricate form. Understanding it is hard enough for some Realtors, let alone those who don't use it every day. Please consult a Realtor who has a solid grasp of the many forms that will be required to insure your transaction goes smoothly. If (34 comments)
Memorial Day 2011 Remember, as you go about your day, that today is Memorial Day. Take a moment to thank a veteran today. Many have sacrificed and many have given their lives. But one thing is a constant from all of them: Their dedication to our great country has enabled us to enjoy many of the freedoms we often take for granted.

Yes folks, it's true. While I fully intend to take Memorial Day off, (we'll see how that goes!) I'm still working. In this crazy business we call Real Estate, long weekends seem to spur on calls and people wanting to look at homes. So, if you need me, I'm still working the Raleigh/ Cary/ Apex area. And I'm only a phone call away...

And today, my friends, ActiveRain's very own blogger extraordinaire, Michael Thornton, becomes only the 13th member to reach the million point milestone. Many of you who follow either Mr. Thornton or myself know that Michael and I have become very good friends. It was Michael who introduced me to the world of Mac computers (which I can't thank him enough for), and it was me who introduced Michael to Photoshop. (And for (71 comments)

By combining my love of biking with my love for Real Estate, I just can't miss with this one! It's a sure fire money maker! What do you think?

re·stric·tive cov·e·nants A covenant imposing a restriction on the use of land so that the value and enjoyment of adjoining land will be preserved.
Here in the Raleigh/ Cary/ Apex area of North Carolina, many of the homes we'll be looking at are in subdivisions. And those subdivisions have rules. Those rules are known as "restrictive covenants". But please don't fear the term "restrictive". Personally, I always thought they should be called, "protective covenants", because they protect the value of your (30 comments)
Happy 70th Birthday Bob Dylan - 05/24/11 10:13 AM
Happy 70th Birthday Bob Dylan It's hard to believe, but Bob Dylan, one of the most important songwriters in American history, turns 70 today.
Now I'm typically never at a loss for words, but I met Mr. Dylan backstage at a concert a bunch of years ago, and I was tongue tied. When he walked in to the room, it was like royalty had arrived. The only other time I felt this way was when George Harrison took the stage at Bob Dylan's 30th Anniversary Concert. Dylan is that impressive. His list of songs is endless. His influence on (27 comments)

So you're ready to buy a new home. Or maybe you're ready to sell your present home. Whichever the case, if you don't buy and sell Real Estate for a living, or you stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night, it's probably best to hire a professional. I'm all about do-it-yourself for small projects, but a home is most likely the biggest investment you'll ever have. Why take a chance on making a mistake? If (33 comments)

I Think We're Going to be OK Here in the Raleigh/ Cary/ Apex Area Tomorrow... - 05/20/11 09:16 AM
I Think We're Going to be OK Here in the Raleigh/ Cary/ Apex Area Tomorrow... Now I don't want to get into whether or not the Raptor that's predicted for tomorrow will actually take place. But I think we're going to be OK here in the Raleigh/ Cary/ Apex area. I've seen this raptor and he looks pretty harmless... In fact, eternal optimist that I am, I've scheduled appointments to show homes for some out of town buyers this weekend. Oh, hang on a moment my phone is ringing... Hello.... Uh, huh.... Really?..... Hmmm.... It's not "raptor"?..... Sorry folks. (30 comments)

Either that was too easy or Wanda is brilliant! (I'm going to bet it's the latter.) She nailed it on the first guess only 10 minutes into the contest. And to think that she's in the Mountain Time Zone and it was only 8:00 AM when she answered! I barely even had half a cup of coffee in me at the time and she's already at the top of her game! Happy Cinco de Mayo Mi Amigos! - 05/05/11 07:22 AM
Happy Cinco de Mayo Mi Amigos! Well, my dear readers, today is Cinco de Mayo. And all these years, I've always thought that the 5th of May was the official Mexican Independence Day, much like our 4th of July. But according to the web site, Cinco History, which was awarded a Times Pick by the Los Angeles Times, the 5th of May is NOT Mexican Independence Day. It is, however, a day of celebration in Mexico and the United States as well. So no matter what the history books might say.... Happy Cinco de Mayo mi amigos! Mexican Restaurants in the (46 comments)
