It's Thursday. Let's Have Some Fun!
You Have to Suffer if You Want to Sing the Blues!!! For those of you who've been following my blogs, you know by now that you need to seek help!!!You also know that I'm a huge fan of the Blues.I'm in a constant struggle to learn how to play guitar, I keep a harmonica in my glove compartment, and my playlist is like a who's who of the Blues.

Happy Birthday To the King of the Blues!
B. B. King is without question the King of the Blues.
And today the King celebrates his 86th birthday!
(Shameless plug moment: Other famous people who share September 16th as their special day: Lauren Bacall, Peter Falk and Craig Rutman too!)
Born September 16, 1925, on a plantation in Itta Bena, Mississippi, Riley B. King played on street corners for dimes, and would sometimes play in as many as four towns a night.
In 1947, he hitchhiked to Memphis, TN, to pursue his music career.

For those of you who know me, or for those who have read my posts, you know that when I grow up I want to be a black Bluesman like BB King or Robert Johnson. I can assure you that's not going to be an easy task for a short, skinny white kid originally from New York City!!! But I have dreams and ambitions so stop laughing!!!
Anyway, as I struggle to learn to play guitar, something I'm determined to do this year, the next best thing is to go and see the greats perform.

On September 18th the Durham Blues Festival kicks off its 21st season bringing the Blues to the Triangle area.
Running from the 18th through the 20th this year the festival will feature such notables as Clarence Carter, Marcia Ball and Taj Mahal.
Only minutes from Raleigh in downtown Durham, the blues festival is not to be missed.

Taking a break from Real Estate...... (Hey, we've got to live too!)
The undisputed King of the Blues, B. B. King, played in town the other night and we were there!
In a little theater, we fittingly enough had tickets for row "BB".
At 82 years old, B. B. might have lost a little of his onstage swagger. But none of his trademark string bending, nor any of his vocal range was among the missing. This guy's still got it!
