Metts, Lexington County Councilman Johnny Jeffcoat and SCE&G officials demonstrated emergency call boxes that have been installed in order to enhance the personal safety of persons who use the Johnny W. Jeffcoat Walkway along S.C. 6 on the Dreher Shoals Dam on Lake Murray near Lexington. One emergency call box is located in a parking lot along the lake on the Lexington side of the dam that is reserved for person who walk on the heavily utilized walkway. … (0 comments)

Lexington Irmo Lake Murray Real Estate Update 04-18-2011 Okra Strut Closer to a New Home - The Irmo Okra Strut may finally have a new home - at least for this year. Town leaders want to move the popular festival to the eastern end of Saluda Shoals Park near the intersection of St. Andrews and Bush River roads. The move, approved last week, ends plans to spend $230,000 for a 14.5 acre tract of land near Friarsgae for a festival site. Hospital seeks Duke Alliance to fight cancer – Lexington Medical Center is looking for help improving its cancer treatments. Hospital officials are negotiating with Duke Medical Center for an alliance to expand its oncology services similar to the alliance for the new heart center. “The difference is that we already have an oncology department, “said LMC Board Chairman Dan Jones. “An alliance with Duke will help us greatly improve the care we give.”
