That little something extra - on a budget! - 07/22/08 07:53 AM
We all have had that moment -- we are done staging but need a little something for the table or desk -- not another candle or plant either! After reading all the great posts, I used a scrapbook paper, added a few "stickers" and put it in the frame I had on hand. On the frame are a couple of embellishments a world and compass that were also in the scrapbook department. On the desk is a photo album which I also added a few "travel" embellishments. The room has so much added charm for only pennies! sorry for the camera

Increase the listing price and offer received -- what changed? - It was Staged! - 07/17/08 08:02 AM
This Salem home has sat on the market for nearly a year. It started out at $179k, was increased to $185 after a new roof and was being reduced to $169k. Frankly did not show well even though it had new carpet, paint and linoleum. Before the online presence was - well -- bland -- here are the actual photos: We were hired with a very limited budget. While I was was out buying curtains, the realtor stopped by and took these photos. She was SO delighted and didn't realize that we were not done with the finishing touches

Blow Up Bed Adventures - beware as size matters! - 07/13/08 05:58 PM
This week I purchased a queen sized Glacier's Edge Anywhere Air Bed at Fred Meyer (Kroger). The Anywhere Bed has received great reviews from other stagers on active rain, so I bought with confidence. Knowing that Murphy's Law has occurred more than once during a vacant staging, I decided to do a "test" of the bed in my own living room. Went up easy -- looked small-like a full -- I checked the package -- says queen -- hmmm Got my queen sized bedding -- did not fit -- was too big -- rechecked package again. Got my tape measure -- actual bed

Beautiful Historic Home in Lebanon Oregon - 07/13/08 08:55 AM
When thinking of historic homes in Linn County, people frequently think of Albany Oregon's well visited historic district and historic neighborhoods which have been so lovingly restored. Just a few miles away in Lebanon Oregon are historic gems waiting to be discovered! While Lebanon has not been as progressive in their historic preservation program, here you can find incredible homes and neighborhoods at reasonable prices. Lebanon formerly was a "mill" town, with their economy based on the timber/lumber industry. With the newly announced medical school and conference center beginning construction in 2009, investors and homebuyers alike are taking notice of this lovely

Bring attenion to the oddities? - 07/09/08 01:40 PM
During a staging consultation this week, I toured a home where a special needs child lived. In his bedroom, the electrical outlets and light switches had been moved to near the ceiling - out of his reach. When encountering such unsual things in homes, do you think it's best to make a small plaquard in the room noting why something is odd and that it can be changed, or just leave it to buyers imagination. It seems most of the realtors I work with think that situations like this should be ignored, but I think a little explanation can benefit buyers.

Free? - 07/07/08 06:54 AM
I'm sure most of you have heard of the 15 hostages that were rescued Wednesday in a Columbian military operation. These hostages had been held captive for more than 5 years by FARC -- a well equipped, well trained guerrilla group of left wing rebels. Government agents had infiltrated the FARC leadership over several months. They dressed like them, spoke like them, acted like them. They talked the rebels into moving the hostages. A helicopter carrying fake rebels picked up the hostages, supposedly to take them to another rebel camp. It actually was a government helicopter and the hostages were whisked

Revived again at the Dollar Store - updated with final pictures - 07/01/08 11:01 AM
I was in a hurry and broke this vase before it even was out of the sack from the store! It has sat in the laundry room as a painful reminder of my carelessness. I was so inspired by many of the Dollar Store ideas I read on the Active Rain Group Staging Crafts & Creatives , that I felt compelled to see what I could do! Here is a picture of my damaged vase - the top has a large piece missing and it is cracked all the way down. I super glued the glass so it was sturdy but
