This morning I was thrilled to read about Kirsten Kaufman, a realtor for Prudential Real Estate in Portland who  hosts bike tours and shows homes by bike.  This mother of three startedd hosting bike tours earlier this summer, doling out energy bars and apricots to clients whose passion for pedaling weighs heavily in their choice of homes. 
Recently we were looking at condos for our daughter in downtown Portland (who is an environmental engineer and doesn't own or want a car)  and must confess we felt a disconnect as we got into the realtor's big SUV to travel a few blocks to … (3 comments)

Paint - No VOC and Odor Control? Have you tried it? - 08/29/08 09:32 AM
Dutch Boy Paint is advertising about its Refresh paint which has odor control.  While this paint has not been my brand of choice, it has caught my eye since we recently did a job where the odor from smoking was an issue and the home needed to be primed with oil based primer and painted - costly and time consuming. 
They claim the odors are "are captured and locked within the paint film. Scrubbing the painted surface will not release the odors." 
But their no VOC claims really caught my eye as the paint was very low cost!

The Oregon Grape Stomp Championship and Harvest Celebration
Just south of Salem on I-5 is the beautiful Willamette Valley Vineyards.  September features a most intriguing event -- It's the Oregon Grape Stomp Championship!  There is still time to sign your team to stomp and swab! 
Some of us are old enough to recall the "I Love Lucy" show and the image of her stomping grapes sticks with me when I think of this event.  Sounds like a purple feet, stomping good time to me - but I think I'll watch this year!

Preparing Your Home For Sale - Small Changes = Huge Results - 08/03/08 11:55 PM
Recently we visited a home that had been on the market for some time and the realtor and owners were frustrated that it was not getting any showings.  Here are the photos that were on the MLS:



The listing realtor provided a staging consultation.  We worked with the sellers on decluttering, paint colors and more -- these are the photos we took the next week.  I think they speak for themselves!
