home staging salem oregon: How do Home Sellers Feel about Working with Stagers? - 05/16/11 10:45 AM
Many real estate professionals are hesitant to suggest staging professionals to home sellers, and for some good reasons: Sellers are emotionally attached to the home – and suggestions made that change the decor or ambiance of the home can be upsetting. What if the seller does a bunch of changes and the house doesn’t sell quickly? Won’t they be irritated for the inconvenience and time spent? What if the suggestions made are too expensive and frustrate my home seller? Here’s the feedback we received this week from some “resistant to staging” clients. (Well – in reality almost hostile clients!) We were

home staging salem oregon: Is Your Hobby Killing Your Home Sale? - 02/19/11 12:57 PM
My job as a professional home stager takes me into over a dozen homes a week and I meet some fantastically creative people along the way. It is amazing to me the unique things people do, create and collect - a fun part of my job. All too often I have to tell these clients that their hobbies are going to prevent them from getting a good price for their home. The doll collector, whose guest room housed hundreds of dolls, the former antique dealer who can't let go of so many beautiful antique pieces, the rock collector - whose every flat

home staging salem oregon: Home Selling is a Lot Like Speed Dating . . . Ready? Set? - 02/11/11 09:16 AM
Most readers have heard of "speed dating". An event where singles meet each other for three to five minutes, get an idea of if this person is interesting, and then move on to the next person to see how they compare. Those of us lacking quick wit or knock-out looks may be intimidated by this dating process. Nerves may take over and all of a sudden we're a wall flower at the junior high dance again. Talk about pressure! Selling your home in 2011 is a whole lot like speed dating. This past month our daughter was looking for a property

home staging salem oregon: Selling Your Oregon Home During the Winter Months - 11/01/10 12:38 PM
We've heard from a few home sellers that they plan to take their homes off the market until spring. Do experts think prices will be higher in the spring? No. Will interest rates be lower in the spring? Very unlikely! Will there be more competition in the spring? Yes. Wondering how to improve your odds for a successful home sale in Oregon? Keep the thermostat set at least 62 degrees, make sure each room is well lit for evening showings and make sure the curb appeal and staging remain in tip top condition! This blog by Catherine Condon says it

home staging salem oregon: Want a Great First Impression? Give Your Sofa some VaVoom! - 09/26/10 10:56 AM
At our warehouse, we have a wall of pillows — sorted usually by color and crammed into our racking by our skilled associate, Judy Klassen. Judy is organizer extraordinnaire and I would post a photo, but I made a mess of them yesterday pulling inventory for a job and she would not be happy to have you see it! But back to my point! I LOVE pillows and the magic they bring to your couch! Since we have a WALL of them in every color imaginable, I should limit myself from buying any more – but I just couldn’t resist these

home staging salem oregon: Who Knows Home Staging Works? Oregon Real Estate Agents! - 09/05/10 09:50 AM
The following blog was originally posted by a local real estate agent Catherine Ulrey of Keller Williams. This Salem Oregon home is incredible - beautiful land and views too, but wasn't attracting an offer. We were hired to advise on what could be done to improve showings and the marketability of this property. This home had beautiful trim work and fabulous view. In the first photo - what's the first thing you see? The valances - not the view! The new look is a lot sleeker and more contemporary. The kitchen had a custom paint job with ivy above the

home staging salem oregon: Does My Beautiful Home Really Need Advice From a Home Stager? - 07/13/10 07:32 AM
Dear Home Staging Expert: My home is beautifully decorated and I receive many compliments on my style and taste in furnishing and decor. I'm preparing to sell in the near future and my real estate agent advised I hire a "home staging expert" to give me some advice. I can't imagine what benefit I would receive from this service. (I actually find it a bit insulting.) Please advise. Sincerely, Divine Design Diane Dear Diane: Thanks for taking the time to ask this important question before dismissing your agent's recommendation. First and most importantly please keep this in mind: We

home staging salem oregon: Home Staging Adds VaVoom for your Room! - 10/24/09 08:11 AM
Do you believe that home staging only applies to high end or custom homes? Regardless of sales price, staging can help a home sell quicker and for more $$. Nearly 90% of all home buyers look first on the internet for homes. It’s a proven statistic that listings with photos get more views online. Photos are key to marketing properties in all price ranges. Most home buyers are looking for more than a house. They are shopping for a "home" and the lifestyle this home can offer them. What do your listing photos say about the lifestyle your home provides? Is

home staging salem oregon: Realtors - Quit Ruining My Vacation! - 06/22/09 08:15 PM
Last week I took a few much needed days off -- business has been extremely busy and it felt good to vacation. Actually read a magazine and got to thinking that it would be great to have a few days to catch up at home, go pick some strawberries and maybe make a strawberry pie. Maybe I should take a day and go to the beach, or Silver Creek Falls -- I love those places!! Well -- while I was vacationing my evil real estate associates (I thought some of them were my friends) have been foiling my plans. First

My blogs have been sparse lately -- and some loyal readers have commented -- what are you up to? Is everything okay? How's the real estate market in Oregon lately? Well -- we've been having some great things happening in the real estate and staging part of our world -- New clients, new realtors and new homes to stage, but even more fun for us is that those pending signs are being hung on many of the properties we've worked on! This past week alone four properties have received offers. A total of over $1.6M of inventory. Now this

home staging salem oregon: Does Your Listing Crave Attention? - 02/20/09 04:47 PM
Sometimes a home with a great floor plan and location can go unnoticed on the MLS . . . A few changes can make a dramatic difference and create that all important favorable first impression! A room that isn't used for it's original purpose, such as this dining room - Can be confusing to buyers and won't create an inviting image -- one that speaks of family dinners and a cozy haven. And even rooms that may be small and seem insignifcant . . . Can have a huge visual impact -speaking of a

home staging salem oregon: From Uninspiring to Sold! - 01/24/09 04:52 PM
Sold - It's what we all love to hear! Before staging, over 50 comparable homes had sold, while this lovely home was passed by. After staging, it was the FIRST to get an offer in its price range. "In our time of need, Creative Concepts and Contracting, came to the rescue and helped my brother in law sell his home. After the passing of my sister, my brother in law wanted to sell and move closer to his family. He placed the home on the market and after 6 months of no activity we called Margaret. She found us a

We love to focus on the positive and great businesses in our community -- especially those who continue to make the Willamette Valley a wonderful place to live. One such business that caught our eye this week is Let It Shine Cleaning. Let it Shine Cleaning has joined a non profit organization that offers free professional housecleaning services to women undergoing cancer treatment. What an amazing offer and what a blessing to those who will benefit from their care and expertise! When reviewing what Let it Shine Cleaning website, I was impressed that not only are they licensed and bonded,

home staging salem oregon: Blow Up Bed Adventures - beware as size matters! - 07/13/08 05:58 PM
This week I purchased a queen sized Glacier's Edge Anywhere Air Bed at Fred Meyer (Kroger). The Anywhere Bed has received great reviews from other stagers on active rain, so I bought with confidence. Knowing that Murphy's Law has occurred more than once during a vacant staging, I decided to do a "test" of the bed in my own living room. Went up easy -- looked small-like a full -- I checked the package -- says queen -- hmmm Got my queen sized bedding -- did not fit -- was too big -- rechecked package again. Got my tape measure -- actual bed

home staging salem oregon: Business Lessons for Christians - 06/26/08 08:49 PM
It was a frustrating evening - irritated that our company is non existent in search engines, and why haven't I hired someone to take care of the website! Months ago I paid "Dex Knows" to know - and he has lost me somewhere - maybe he confused Albany, Oregon with Albany, New York? If I can't find me, how can anyone else? And how many phone book companies do I need to pay to be found by new clients - yellow pages, super pages, big book - and each charges per city - I serve about 10 cities! I read recently
