Need some incentive to put in some time at your favorite charity?  How about a free night at a posh hotel? 
Some 50 hotels across the country are giving away a free night to guests who prove that they completed at least eight hours of community service between July 1 and Dec. 20.
The hotels, managed by Sage Hospitality, include some locations of swanky hotels such as Sheratons, Courtyards, Marriots, and more.

make a difference: Successful Make a Difference Day in Salem Oregon! - 11/02/08 09:30 PM
October 25th was National Make A Difference Day, and we participated in improving a day center for a local homeless shelter.  About 30 volunteers joined us in West Salem at the Salem Interfaith Hospitality Network for fun while painting, cleaning, doing yard work and repairing flooring and dryrot. 
The local newspaper stopped by and Joe's picture (my husband and licensed contractor) was in the newspaper article which covered the event.  He prefers to be a behind the scenes kind of guy, but was key in replacing some dry rotted flooring and installing new vinyl for a bathroom.

Most of us have read in the newspaper about Make A Difference Day - and perhaps thought about what a good idea it was. 
This is a fabulous way for us (yes YOU) to give back to the community that supports our industry!  In hard times, our charities, volunteer and community organizations need more help than ever. 
Active rainers are frequently writing about how "it's not about us" and networking.  What a great way to help others and meet new people!  We can use our SOI for more than just furthering our business, but also improving our community.
