interior redesign: Spring Ahead ~ Not Just For Clocks - 03/06/09 07:50 AM
As we move our clocks ahead an hour this weekend and get ready to welcome Spring (I know, there is still snow on the ground), it is also a great time to start thinking about freshening up our homes that have been "closed up" for so many months.  Interior Redesign may help give your home that freshening up it needs.

Spring-cleaning refers to more than just housekeeping.  Spring-cleaning is also a time to clean out the clutter, banish winter from our homes, and lighten up our rooms.   Redesigning a room, or rooms, in your home is a great Spring-cleaning project, as … (16 comments)

interior redesign: Karaoke At Houston Airport - 12/21/08 08:30 AM
I read this news story this morning, and think it is a great, out-of-the-box and creative idea!  Passengers (and employees) at Houston Airport were able to listen to and sing Karaoke while waiting in the airport.  The songs were geared to seasonal renditions.  What a great way to help pass the time if you had a delayed flight, especially with all these storms across our nation these past couple of weeks.
Here is a link to the article.  I'm not a frequent flyer myself (or a singer), but it would certainly take my mind off sitting in an airport!  I think … (5 comments)

interior redesign: Freshen Up Your Home This Fall - 09/07/08 08:16 PM
Gas at $4.00 a gallon, food prices rising, pillows costing $7.00 on airlines, is it any wonder that "staycations" and "cocooning" have become buzz words recently.  With our current economy, more and more people are choosing to stay at home and making do with what they've got. Decorating your home is more important than ever now.  With Fall just around the corner, our thoughts turn back to sprucing up the inside of our homes.
While you may not feel you need a full interior decorating job, many decorators can work with you on an hourly basis for such things as: window … (9 comments)

interior redesign: Affordable Decorating Tips - 03/16/08 07:04 PM
One of the easiest things to do, without spending any money, is to look around your rooms and clean up any clutter.  This includes too many knick-knacks on display, too many family pictures, too much of anything.  Remember, less is more.  Your accessories will make a bigger impact when they can be fully appreciated.  If too many things overwhelm your eye those special items will not stand out.  If necessary, pack up some items for six months and then rotate them back out.
Move things around.  Furniture, accessories, and pictures.  Move things to another room to see it in another light.

interior redesign: New Year, New Room - 01/15/08 02:42 PM

Kathy Passarette of Creative Home Expressions offers some tips on making your rooms feel fresh in the New Year by redesigning your spaces.  Interior redesign is taking items you already own and reusing them.  The best part is that it doesn't cost you anything if you do it yourself.   If you have a room that you feel could use a facelift, but you still like your "things" give an interior redesign a try.
Start by emptying the room of all but the heaviest pieces.  This includes most furniture, accessories, plants, pictures, lamps, wall décor and any other items you may have in … (5 comments)

interior redesign: New Year's Resolutions ~ For Your Home - 12/21/07 09:31 AM

January - Remove your holiday decorations by the second week in January.  Nobody wants to see icicle lights or reindeer on your lawn in February, whether they be your neighbors or prospective buyers.
February - Apply a fresh coat of paint to any rooms that need it.  This is one of the least expensive ways to add a change to the inside of your home.
March - While Spring cleaning, move some things around from collectibles to furniture to give you a fresh perspective and appreciation of your belongings.
April - Wash all your windows.  Seems so simple but a lot … (13 comments)
