Natural Resource Defense Council names Costa Rica “BioGem”
The Natural Resource Defense Council (NRDC) has, for the first time, named a country a “BioGem” in recognizing Costa Rica for its efforts in becoming the first carbon-neutral country. NRDC has been campaigning to save over thirty unique exotic sites, which are home to endangered wildlife, since 2001. They have also campaigned to curb global warming and increase environmental sustainability in local communities.

Costa Rica ranked the 8th most stable country in the world ! A March 2009 study by The Economist (magazine) Intelligence Unit in collaboration with George Mason University has identified the most politically and economically stable countries amid the global economic meltdown.  Using 17 measures that encompass social structures, economic statistics, political structure and history, the report was formed from a comprehensive study of 164 countries.
Top 10 Most Stable Countries:
Norway Denmark Canada Sweden Finland Switzerland Mauritius Costa Rica New Zealand Luxembourg Other notable rankings include; USA is 56th, Nicaragua is 77th, Mexico is 87th, and Panama is ranked 131st.

It is now obvious to all observers that the global economy is declining, primarily led by credit problems in the United States.  Banks and lending institutions around the world are seeking recapitalization; commodity and land values are declining; and investors are desperately searching for safe assets.  Can assets in Costa Rica provide protection?
