Independence Day Celebration
Family, Fun, and Fireworks in Wylie Texas on June 30th at Founders Park. 
Event begins at 5 pm with singing of the National Anthem and flag ceremony by Wylie Fire-Rescue. This year, the 2nd Annual Wylie Public Safety Expo will be held in conjunction with the Independence Day Celebration. The Expo features safety information booths and demonstrations by Wylie public safety personnel. The kids and concessions areas have also been expanded for 2007.
The evening concludes with a 15-minute fireworks show at dusk.  For more information go to www.wylietexas.gov

The little Collin County town of Murphy is getting its second big-city shopping center.
Developers plan to break ground this summer on a 150,000-square-foot retail complex at the northwest corner of FM 544 and Murphy Road.
Called Murphy Plaza, the project will be anchored by a 45,000-square-foot LA Fitness outlet.
Weitzman Group is leasing the project, which plans three other large retail tenants plus smaller merchants and restaurants.

Moms & More first and foremost is a support group. We welcome all caregivers from Wylie and surrounding communities. We also offer activities for caregivers and kids of all ages. Dues are $25.00 a year and will directly benefit our members and communities. We have countless activities for children and their caregivers. Our Monthly Convergence is the first Thursday of every month at 10am. Children are more than welcome. Drinks and snacks are always provided.

City History The City of Wylie was incorporated in 1887 along the rights-of-way of the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railroads. It was named for Colonel W.D. Wylie, a Santa Fe Railroad official and Civil War veteran.
By 1890, Wylie had a population of 239. And the first one-room school was built in 1890. From 1890 to 1900, population grew by 300% and other elements came to town (banking, two-story schoolhouse and gins).
In 1920, Wylie received electrical service and streetlights. Ballard Avenue was graveled in 1923.
