Do you Have A Will? Local Attny Will Prepare for $125 - 08/28/09 04:37 PM
I have recently met a wonderful Austin attorney who is preparing wills for $125 each. What a deal! She is wonderful and located in downtown Austin. If you are in need of a will give Susan Haney a call at 512-476-2212.
A letter from Susan - We had such a terrific response to our offer to draw up estate planning documents for $125 per person (for you couples who have been married awhile, you are still two people!) that we are sending the offer again! So many people told us that having a will had been on their "to do" (2 comments)

What is Success? - 08/26/09 01:50 AM
"What is success? To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty; To find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived; That is to have succeeded." A great quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson. (1 comments)
My mom used to say, "The food always tastes better when someone else is cooking it." Maybe that's why I love my mom's cooking so much.
I'm guessing that's also why so many of us like to eat out. Between work and family obligations, deciding what to make for dinner seems more like a chore some days. It is the reason we decided to tackle tonight's subject of ways to save money and still eat out. Great way to save $$$ on Dining Out in Austin Check out www.Restaurant.com There is a great selection of restaurants where (4 comments)
Austin Rebate Programs to Save Money Fall 2009 - 08/25/09 01:10 AM
The Cash for Clunkers program just ended, but may get a chance to take advantage of another round of rebates this fall--this time by replacing your old appliances. Part of the stimulus package Congress approved earlier this year included $300 million for the Energy Efficient Appliance Rebate program. By buying a new energy efficient appliance you could get a rebate worth between $50 to $200. Here's a list of the appliance categories that will qualify: · central air conditioners · heat pumps (air source and geothermal) · boilers · furnaces (oil and gas) · room air conditioners · clothes washers · (1 comments)
The Secret of Simplicity - 08/25/09 12:49 AM
You may have noticed more articles in newspapers and magazines about living better with less or simplifying your life lately. If you check out the rack at your local grocery store, you will find a whole slew of titles such as Real Simple or Simple and Delicious focused on the topic. So what is the simplicity trend and where did it come from? According to the book, Secrets of Simplicity, Live Better with Less, by Mary Carlomango, many people feel overwhelmed because they have a large number of commitments and have formed unhealty habits that have negatively impacted their lives. Hot Tips for Cool Closings - 08/21/09 12:16 AM
I recently asked one of my favorite title representitives for some good advice for a smooth closing. She said: "As notaries we are required by law to see a valid photo ID for anyone whose signature we acknowledge. If this cannot be provided we are unable to notarize the documents therefore they cannot be recorded. All this to say - it is imperative that sellers and buyers bring proper identification with them to the closing. Normally it's in the form of a current Driver's License but a Passport or other official photo ID can also be used." Just a reminder to (3 comments)
Seize the Day! - 08/18/09 11:49 AM
"Learn to enjoy every minute of your life. Be happy now. Don't wait for something outside of yourself to make you happy in the future. Think how really precious is the time you have to spend, whether it's at work or with your family. Every minute should be enjoyed and savored." Earl Nightingale1921-1989, Author and Radio Announcer
If you're happy and you know it - 08/11/09 01:15 PM
It's important to keep a positive attitude in the bad times. It will help you to get to the good times much faster. Your outlook on life can play a key role in how your day turns out. This is a belief passed down for hundreds of years. "I am determined to be cheerful and happy in whatever situation I may find myself. For I have learned that the greater part of our misery or unhappiness is determined not by our circumstance but by our disposition." Martha Washington1732-1802, First American First Lady
Circle C/ Legend Oaks Areas are Smoking Hot - 08/09/09 04:07 PM
Weather in Austin has been over 100 degrees lately. Real Estate in Southwest Austin is also smoking hot. The inventory is lower than normal because people are buying homes in the Circle C/ Legend Oaks/ Western Oaks corridor.
(Typical home in the area) There are currently 164 homes for sale, down from the average 225. There are currently 63 homes under contract. The average time on the market is 45 days. Some of the reasons that make this area (zip codes 78749 and 78739) so desirable: 10 to 15 minutes to downtown Austin. Exemplary rated schools Close to major employers (4 comments)
Barton Creek Real Estate - Breathtaking Sunsets & Views for Miles - 08/09/09 02:00 AM
I have been showing homes in Barton Creek over the last few days. There are several neighborhoods in this resort community that wraps around the Fazio golf courses. There is the Governor's Hill Condos, which are really full size houses on zero lot lines. Many of them have negative edge pools overlooking the canyons. There is a moderately priced neighborhood called Wimberley Lane. Homes here start just over $600k. There is the North Rim, which is only a few homes that sit on 2 to 7 acre lots, starting over 2M. One of my favorites is the Woods. There is the (4 comments)

This home is an exceptional deal because the owners have updated nearly everything possible in this home. It is as neat as a pin! Landscaper in Austin - loved my results in Southwest Austin - 08/06/09 01:15 PM
We just had new stonework done to our flowerbeds at our home in Southwest Austin. We had to immediately find a good landscaper to complete the job. After meeting with several people, and going over plans and prices, one stood out from the group. She is Jodi Phillips with Morningstar Landscaping. She made the process easy and effortless, and came up with a reasonable budget. I was impressed with her because whe did not try to overprice the job, like many others did. She showed up on time, and was quick to email with the bid. When we came home to (0 comments)
Southwest Austin Stonework - I would highly recommend! - 08/06/09 01:07 PM
I just had stonework completed in Southwest Austin by Senon's Masonry. I called 5 different people , 2 didn't bother to return my calls. I got estimates from the ones who did, and I checked out their work from previous jobs. We decided to go with Senon, and I am so glad that we did. They finished in 2 days, and it is top quality work. The price was reasonable and I would highly recommend him to others. I am planning to have him do the flagstone around our future pool too. If you are in Southwest,West, Central, or South Austin give him (2 comments)
November 30th Deadline on 2009 Tax Credit for Buyers: What does it mean for Home Sellers? - 08/04/09 07:03 PM
The $8,000 tax credit from the government is set to expire on November 30th. This means that the number of buyers are likely to increase over the coming months. The buyers are out looking to buy while the incentive is in place, so it is a great time to place your home up for sale. Interest rates could start to increase as the year winds down, due to inflationary concerns. This means that buyers and sellers alike should take advantage of the historically low rates and great buying and selling environment while it lasts. If you have been waiting for the (5 comments)
