Seems like summer is finally here. Have you pulled your boat out and started getting it ready for the lake. Here are some tips to be sure you don't find yourself stuck at the boat ramp when you get to the lake.
1. Be sure to replace the drain plugs in the engine block, waterpump, and exhaust. Sometimes the exhaust hoses are removed if you do not have drain plugs on them.
2. Change your oil and drive fluid as well as the old gas in your tank. Check your trim tab, power steering, and motor trim fluids.
3. Check all belts and hoses for cracks, breaks, or signs of ware. Change if neccessary.
4. A few days before going place a trickle charger on your batteries to ensure full charge. Winter is often hard on batteries.
5. Clean it up and make it stand tall before heading out. If you are well known people will take notice of the condition and associate it with the way you will take care of the process of buying or selling their home.
6. When you get to the lake settle down for a minute and make sure, double check, then check again that you have put the drain plug in the back of the boat.
7. If your boat just sunk you must have missed step 6. and need to re-read it again before putting your next boat in the lake.
I think this post just made me think of something I promote always and have seemed to miss the boat. We are constanly looking for a great way to promote our business. Use your boat for as a moving billboard. People see it going down the road, if yours is anything like mine it's always at the gas station, and all over the lake. Might be a great way to become know as the lake property guy. Who knows. Anyways have a great summer and rember you have to have a little fun and do not have to work all the time. Besides you would be suprised how many deals I have gotten at the lake. Both buyers and sellers. Hope to see you at the party cove soon! Maybe the islands at Texohma!
Hope the tips help you out for a successful first launch with your boat this year. Would love to hear your comments. Be sure and leave the details of the boat you are sporting!
