Clean Your Plate There Are Starving Kids in China.... - 12/31/08 01:12 PM
As I reflect on the New Year I can't help thinking of my parents. My parents used to tell us stuff and I would go (to myself, you didn't smart mouth so much back then) "That doesn't make sense." Such as, Clean Your Plate There Are Starving Kids in China.... I never could understand how eating all my English peas was going to help those kids. Today I know to be happy and grateful for what I have and not take it for granted. Because I Said So That's Why... I really thought they should be able to

What Finger Food Would You Bring? - 12/31/08 12:19 PM
Going to a New Year's Eve party for former coworkers of my husband. High school football coaches. Some retired, some not. We are supposed to bring a finger food. What would you bring? The Tamale Lady called and we are supposed to pick up our monthly allotment of homemade tamales with habanero (sp?) sauce. (This is Texas you know). I could cut these into bite size pieces and bring toothpicks. I have a Christmas plate with a reindeer in a football uniform with Blitzen written on it. Deviled Eggs- The plate still applies. Cream cheese topped with sun dried tomatoes and

Would you like a Free Fortune Teller Miracle Fish? - 12/25/08 08:01 PM
Who knows what the future holds? But if you want to have some fun then a Fortune Teller Miracle Fish is sure to do the trick. You might remember these from childhood. It is a red plastic ( I guess) fish. You hold it in the palm of your hand and the movement of the fish indicates your mood. If you want one comment with your name and mailing address and I will send those fish flying through the snail mail. My disclaimer, "While supplies last (but I have a bunch) " So keep those comments coming.

What kind of Christmas Cards Do You Send? - 12/22/08 12:51 AM
Christmas Cards are in the mail. Cards to family, friends and clients. As I am writing I can't help wondering about the cards I am sending out. Christmas is a celebration of Jesus' birth. As a Christian should I only send out religious cards? I love quirky cards. I sent some this year that had a moose with his arms crossed with mistletoe hanging from his antlers that read, " Moosletoe". I loved these cards. They were cute and had an attitude but I felt that I should be sending something to commemorate the birth of Christ. I did send some

My Favorite Realtor- Barney Fife - 12/20/08 01:48 AM
One year I still needed classes for my license renewal. I went to an environmental class at my local board office. Right in the middle of the class the instructor stopped the class and showed an episode of the Andy Griffith show. The episode is titled, "Barney Fife, Realtor." I have never seen the episode on TV but after watching it that day I had to have it. So, I went to my old faithful source- Ebay. The VHS is titled The Best of Barney Collection. #5. The episode is #143 and the original air date is January 4, 1965. This

Were you Popular in High School Too? - 12/08/08 11:24 PM
Haven't been on Activerain for long but I have noticed some things. 1) I see some people being featured regularly. Sometimes I understand it and other times I say "HUH?" 2) Some people are just personable and fun and have a big following. 3) Some people have great tips and have a big following. 4) Some people are bossy and kind of obnoxious and have a big following. (You know who you are! lol) 5) So, it got me wondering. Were you people popular in high school too? Don't be modest.

If you really want to know the DIRT on someone do this...... - 12/06/08 03:31 PM
Just got through reading Fran Gatti's great post on credit card companies. Check it out you will be surprised. (or maybe you won't be.) It got me to thinking of something I learned a few years ago. Don't ask me how I found this out. I don't know but it is interesting. If you want to find out information about a company type in your search engine xxxyyy333sucks or xxxyyy333suxs. It will take you to posts that people have written about the company, their experiences and complaints. So instead of xxxyyy333 you would put the name of the company and then

Feng Shui Ya'll - 12/05/08 09:28 AM
I had a client a few years ago. She was my husband's nurse when he had a double knee replacement. Susie (not her name) said that she wanted to buy a house. She stated that she could tell I was a good person by the way I took care of my husband. Susie and I started at looking at houses. She would look at a perfectly beautiful house and say No, No. I listened to all her needs and she would repeatedly reject homes. Finally one day she stopped me and reluctantly said, Brenda I want to tell you about something.

Let's Have a Slumber Party! - 12/01/08 06:10 PM
Okay, This will bring back memories for the girls. Guys, you probably were in tents in the backyard for your parties. I think we should have a slumber party. I used to love them. See if you could stay up all night, have a scavenger hunt, do each others hair, eat onion dip, use the ojui board to see who you were going to marry. We would make fudge, play records (remember those?), talk about the dreamy boys, and went home and crashed. I don't see why grown women can't still do some of this same stuff. I think it would
