How To Write A Better Blog
The fun thing about being up a tree is getting to choose the tree you climb. I love how spontaneous kids are because the conversation flows based upon what interests them. They don't hesitate when they are interested or excited about something, they blurt their joy with all the exuberance of youth that happiness affords. If you are going to write about the stuff you are passionate about, be like a happy child and simply go forth to find that fave tree to climb. Spread your news. Spread the word. Share what's … (6 comments)

We're doing upgrades. Major platform upgrades. Life may get a wee bit interesting later tonight when you click on a few links but hang in there... We're going to keep blogging and rooting for our technical programmers who are doing wonderful things in the background upgrading our servers so people like me can spoof on-line and periodically write something useful for people like you to find (LOL). You guys know how much I am into eye candy. I am taking the shorties to a Soho gallery to go view the works of Peter Lik after school today so Mr. Autistic and Mr. PDD-NOS can see how the pros do it. Any excuse to go into "the city" for Manhattan is always a fave plac to explore... May even mess with one of my fave Rainers while I'm there. Cindy T has got to get to blogging... Seriously. Chicka is mad funny in real life. I want her to share that with you. I need more posts to … (7 comments)

If you don't have an intellectually drop dead gorgeous girlfriend you should get one... A few would be nice and several definitely better... Being an equal opportunity kinda gal, intelligent guy pals are just as important; however, if you don't like having interesting conversations then never mind. After all, witty banter is not for everyone and gender wont matter in the end if all people do is aggravate you.

The fun part of being an artist is getting to high-jack your friends for your gallery and writing projects. This illustration is going to … (9 comments)

I Am Going To Quote Someone I Am Looking Forward To Meeting: Kate Gaffin - 04/25/10 06:37 PM
"So my question to you is, will you not go for what you want based on the reason that others ‘have it easier,’ ‘are just naturally talented,’ or ‘simply lucky?’ Or will you take a deep and hard look inward and realize ‘There is nothing I can’t do if I simply get out of my own way.’ How do you get out of your own way? You start by stopping with all the excuses…" Kate Gaffin has a very interesting website that doesn't have a lot of blog posts on them: http://www.ConnectingToGreatness.com

So, my phone rings and I hear, "The infamous Carolyn Tann-Starr. What's your elevator pitch?"

Without batting an eye I go into my elevator pitch: "Got questions about leveraging social media madness into a monetized, marketing strategy to blast your business into the blogosphere to help improve your public relations and bottom line that will leave you laughing on your way to the bank? Guitar Minions, Orbs and The Spring Show at P4
So... last week I'm sitting in the auditorium minding my business enjoying "The Spring Show" when these orbs start distracting me. I thought my lens was dirty but they were constantly moving, floating lazily in the air and making me really crazy because it was Stephen's first assembly and I wanted at least one good picture without a ghost of a reflection in it.

Shorty is being introduced to performing on stage with his class and school peers. How could I miss this? It's like a waiting to exhale … (2 comments)

Life With Wee People: Get Into The Minion Zone
Spring is in the air, the tops are off the paint cans and we are painting bedroom furniture in our jammies. When it comes to painting, canvas is just the tip of the ice-berg in my household. I do a lot of painting because my kids write on everything. You can go to sleep and wake up with pen markings on your face (LOL). Mini-Me
We didn't mean to but we kinda ruined Mike's work out yesterday...
Seems Stephen thought he should be jogging with his father and kept leaving the playground to race down the path after him. I had to call his cell phone to make him stop his exercise routine, pack up the canvas and go on a 0.82 walk around Cunningham Park with the shorty.
Noah was on his scooter and kept gliding in circles around us. We did manage to get some drawing done and I'm hoping we can talk Mini-Me into hanging out with the crayon brigade this … (14 comments)

The Sketchbook Chronicles: Every Model Gets Their Own Book (LOL)
Sometimes it takes three or four canva-pads before I figure out what people look like (LOL). I'll let you in on a secret: I usually ask my kids who it is and if they name the person I let them see their portrait. If they cant name the person, I tear it up and start sketching from scratch (LOL).
While doodling on the futon tonight Stephen wandered over and said, "Oooooooo. Sana." I immediately stopped drawing halfway through the sketch to sign it so I could go over to Facebook … (7 comments)

Life With Wee People: Of Heart And Hearth...
Kids have a funny way of making a house a home. They pick their favorite spots to play... They create hidey-holes for their little treasures. They decide shoes don't belong in the closet but lined up in the fireplace (LOL). I was tickled pink when Noah decided to kick his shoes off and place them in the same spot Stephen originally did when he first visited Lucy's home. The fact that Noah and Stephen sometimes think alike to the point where they mirror each other when they are apart amazes me. … (9 comments)

Life With Wee People: Window Dancing And A Chocolate Car Fetish...
I knew the moment we started down Lucy's drive Stephen was going to holler "chocolate car!'' (LOL) He is madly in love with Margaret Rome's Lexus. He has been insisting we go back to see the chocolate car and the chocolate house every single day so here we are back in Maryland doing the road trip thing and having a blast.

Noah previously opted to stay home but after seeing the prior shots (and listening to Stephen, the Blur Minion babbling every time he saw Margaret on-line) my … (6 comments)

Three Minutes To Say Hi Then Run Like Hell (LOL)
The Birthday Bandits are hot on my trail. If you want to know how fast I really do type I guess this would make a great timing exercise because I have approximately three minutes to duck out and high tail it over to Jackson Heights for an appointment before I scoot over to the school and grab the little minions (LOL). Life With Wee People: Little Minion Artists And Ward Nasse Gallery
Yesterday we took the shorties to one of our fave stores on Glen Cove Road to pick up our art supplies so we could go paint in the park. Arts and crafts can be a two car affair depending upon what we're doing. Mikey wanted to get his jog on, so he left first while the boys and I packed our art hamper, grabbed some canvas, loaded the cooler and set off for Cunningham Park.
Three cars full of kids later we settled in for our afternoon playdate … (11 comments)

Momentum After The Tax Credit Expires? Seriously? Suffering From Lookie-Lou-Itis?
This is why I don't do a lot of interviews. I am not into stupid questions. Markets are local. The only thing that can move a market is the buyer's ability to complete the transaction and the seller's willingness to enter into a contract to sell.
"If housing is unable to gain recovery momentum before the tax credit expires, where will demand come from afterward?" is a question being bandied about the net as if that piddling $8K really matters if a person is trying to secure the roof over … (35 comments)

Proxy Errors Got You Down? Go Get Some Good Eats. Smile. Smack The Computer Later...
One of the things I love is the fact that there are great restaurants in New York City that stay open 24 hours a day. My gal pal Cindy T introduced me to this Korean place in Flushing that is really really cool and operates continually. I've only had one meal there so I'm not publishing the address until I make up my mind if I like it or not. I figure when we hook up for our next late night snack I'll probably … (14 comments)

So... You Guys Wanna Throw Shorty An ActiveRain B-Day Party, Eh? In MD? Hmm...
So I am sitting here enjoying my Frosted Flakes with the wee one when the phone rings. Seems people are interested in Margaret Rome's suggestion that Stephen, the Blur Minion have his birthday bash at the Chocolate House (LOL). Being blurry eyed while enjoying my sugar bliss I was a wee bit slow on the uptake because I hadn't read the invitation to par-tay at Lucy's.
After the ninth call I realized I needed to go log in and see what the hell everyone was … (7 comments)

Autistic Photographs of Noah E Starr: Canarsie Pier At Sunset (Brooklyn, NY)
When I was a kid taking the bus to get here was a big deal. Born and raised in Brooklyn, I know Kings County like the back of my hand. It's fun to pack the boys up and hang out at the National Gateway Recreation Area. It spans a couple of counties and has some very interesting sites for the family to check out. When on the hunt for eye candy make sure you're in position at least an hour before sunset. It's the magic hour where little … (9 comments)

Life With Wee People: Of Chocolate Houses And Ostrich Egg Hunts
I bet you thought taking your wee ones on an Easter Egg Hunt was the bomb diggety (LOL). Being quirky, I figured my wee people need help finding their Easter eggs so why settle for little colored ones when you can send your kids looking for a huge Ostrich egg (LOL). If you're going to have kids doing Localism then you might as well make their day trips worth their while. Westminster, Maryland is a lovely spot (LOL). I myself have a thing for eye candy. I have soooooo gotta fill you guys in on how Spring Break is coming along and show off Lucy's gorgeous home. She was a very gracious host and I'm thinking I need to run my butt back down there next weekend. I am having a love affair with PA, MD and VA. Autistic Photographs of Noah E Starr: Kids Doing Localism
This has got to be one of my all time fave Noah shots. Little dude has a very good eye. We're running amok at the Queens Zoo in Flushing Meadows Park having a blast. Will post a slide show of the shorties work later. They both have Nikons and our Good Friday picnic is in progress. It's a little strange eating lamb next to the lambs. I cracked up when Stephen dumped his BBQ chicken at the sight of real chickens. Wonder what he was thinking... (LOL) ;-)
