open house: Snow Minions - 12/19/08 06:56 PM
VideoAd by Mixpo The Little Minions got to play in the snow today. I also took them on two tours of homes because I am working on two Comparative Market Analysis; one for Flushing and the other for Jamaica, NY. We had a blast building snowmen and having snowball fights. Stephen got to pretend-drive his fave wooden car and Noah demolished his snowman creation with some of the kids in the backyard of our apartment building. We stopped by our new construction to make sure the pipes were okay because at one point the temperature fell down to 32 degrees. I

open house: 36 Degrees Of Open House (Active Rain Saves The Day) - 12/06/08 03:49 PM
I have a thing for hardwood floors. I think they make a house sexy. So do fireplaces and a number of other optional selling points. When it comes to shopping for a property to invest or dwell in, we all have that "ooo-ahh intangible features button" ingrained in our souls where if the right bit of construction eye candy comes along it will trigger that response of momentary awe when we really, really like something. I like the smell of new construction and I like the sheen of hardwood floors. :-) My girlfriend has these two listings that I am

open house: By the pricking of my thumb, something wicked this way comes... - 06/16/08 09:42 AM
I love William Shakespeare, he had such a droll sense of humor and that line from Macbeth always makes me giggle. When I was much younger I was fortunate to see an excellent rendition of the play and the actors portraying the three "sister witches" were an absolute comedic delight! The play begins with the three weird witches meeting during a storm, so Shakespeare tends to come to mind when ever I have to show an "old style" home amidst severe thunder and lightening, especially if it is situated near a graveyard. It's hard selling a tombstone view, but somebody has

Parkway Village, Queens County, NY (ML#2084091) TannStarr.com 2 Bedroom 1 Bath Co-op For Sale $215,000 15038 Village Road Unit #98GB Jamaica NY 11432 I can not drive down the north service road of the Grand Central Parkway without my son insisting we stop to visit the Tennenbaums. He's absolutely smitten with them, for they are truly a lovely couple who know how to make a young person feel welcome. Their unfailing kindness has given my child a very bold heart. When I say my son loves their house, it is an understatement. He treats the place as

open house: On the Road Again - 05/25/08 10:30 AM
I travel a lot so Mapquest has become a sort of virtual best friend. I wont go anywhere without checking in so I can map the neighborhood and plot my little people strategy. When you have kids in this business you spend quite a bit of time plotting and planning your day around their schedules. I guess you could say I consult with my digital buddy all the time looking for eateries, parks and places where I can obtain "quality snack-age" of de minimus to no nutritional value in colorful packaging whose goal is eliciting wide-eyed stares and outstretched hands from my little ones.

open house: Hanging with the boys scoping Open Houses - 05/24/08 09:40 AM
We are getting ready for our holiday weekend. My God-brother Jose has a lovely home in Pawling, NY. Here is a photograph of my husband Michael with our two sons Stephen and Noah playing in his pool. Their favorite thing about visiting Dutchess County (besides seeing Joey) is the farmland. There is nothing like taking a break from NYC to enjoy some apple picking, pumpkin picking, hay rides, horse farms, fresh food markets and all around small town life activities. They even have a great place to ski there. We're hoping to take the boys during winter break for their first sled rides. I have always wanted to live upstate, but have yet to get around to it. We're thinking of scoping out an open house. Anyone have any Dutchess County, New York suggestions for this Sunday in Pawling or Patterson, let me know. We'd appreciate it. Noah really does enjoy his house field trips... http://www.TannStarr.com

open house: The Open House: Help, Hobby or Horror... - 05/22/08 10:14 PM
There are days when I really like participating in open houses, but then there are days when the only thought that comes to mind is, "Oh, horror... that can't possibly be good..." I especially hate when I have that thought before I even make it to the front door. Its like my internal switches start flickering and the warning bells flare up to put me on hyper alert and color my mood. You ever have someone overbook, call you in a frenzy, get you to cover their assignment only to discover that home staging is non exsistant, the dishes are still in the sink, the clothes all

open house: Through the eyes of a six year old... - 05/21/08 09:45 PM
The wonderful thing about being a Realtor mom is the flexibility I have regarding controlling my schedule. The fact of the matter is, my kids rule the roost, so my life revolves around their school schedules and social agendas. I've quite happily discovered my six year old has an ear for music and eye for art. He also has a wonderful sense and zest for transforming his concept of life into color and can spend hours pouring over picture books of Monet, Manet, Cezanne, Van Gogh and Picasso while taking a scissor to my copies of "This Old House" to
