tannstarr: Google Alerts For Real Time Tweets? Bite Me... - 12/09/09 09:05 PM

Stephen, the Minion Blur
Google Alerts For Real Time Tweets? Bite Me...
I like serial commenting, but not if Google is going to index and send me an alert for all of my tweets. Have you lost your social media mind? Who thought this was a bright idea? Seriously... Did you know that some of us have thousands of tweets floating through cyberspace? You are now telling me what I first tweeted and what my friends have re-tweeted from @CTannStarr? (As if I didn't know... sigh. Oh... wait... tweets are news now... LOL)
I understand the need for reporting real … (21 comments)

tannstarr: Life With Wee People: Minion Painting 101 (Ambassadors of Chaos) - 07/22/09 06:17 AM

Life With Wee People: Minion Painting 101
You may not think you can paint because you have it in your head that it has to look like something, some place or someone. That's not true. You can express yourself just by your use of color. How you scrape it, blend it, contrast and highlight says a lot about you.
Painting is a very personal thing. When you create paintings for your blog they don't have to be a 20 x 20 canvass like we are using. Get yourself 8 x 10 panels and do what ever you want, then … (24 comments)

tannstarr: Yes, I Know. ActiveRain's Chaos Group Butterfly Is Gone. That's Because We Have A New One... - 07/13/09 12:39 PM

ActiveRain Group Club Chaos Icon
I had fun creating this bit of art. I've been working on it all morning. Seems a couple of the bay-bays wanted note cards and mugs (LOL). I hear a tee shirt may be in order. I second the motion. Hmm... Whaddaya' know... Change is good (LOL). ;-)
I love the ActiveRain Group Club Chaos because that's where my virtual family resides. It's my favorite place to be when I want to visit the people living in my computer. Yesterday, I took my wee people on an eye candy hunt to the Prospect Park Zoo … (15 comments)

I love to watch my son dance, especially to the song Halo. Stephen the Minion Blur loves Beyonce and a host of really cool artists like Amy Grant, Darlene Zschech, Ella Fitzgerald and Lady Ga Ga. Dude jumps in the bed to the Black Eyed Peas and will float around the house if I put on Yo Yo Ma.
From classical to head banging, my guy pie boogies to them all. Right now "Pump It" is playing … (13 comments)

Outside Blog Minion Report: An Interview With George Hartman Carolyn Tann-Starr
My interview with George Hartman regarding Desktop Publishing was not only educational, it was a tremendous bit of mad fun. He shared a wealth of useful information and was kind enough to bring one of his portfolios for me to peek at. Turns out it was full of the original art for one of his comic book publications and also contained material yet to be published.
I was inspired, so I created two Outside Blog Minion Report covers. I couldn't figure … (6 comments)

Chaos (derived from the Ancient Greek Χάος, Chaos) may be described as "a state lacking order or predictability." Wikipedia
First "Chaos Theory" Quote of the Day: "In mathematics, Chaos Theory describes the behavior of certain dynamical systems...  systems whose states evolve with time, that may exhibit dynamics that are highly sensitive to initial conditions (popularly referred to as the butterfly effect). As a result of this sensitivity, which manifests itself as an exponential growth … (2 comments)

Social Media Optimization is the name of the game. If you want to play, you have to do something remarkable to engage your audience while working within the confines of the community rules of your social platform(s).
People only talk about what makes an impression on them. How is your blog affecting your readership and what does the aggregate of your collective social media accounts say about you? ActiveRain, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter... it doesn't matter which … (12 comments)

tannstarr: PDD-NOS strikes again: Stephen the Minion Blur drowned my Sprint Rant in the toilet... - 07/03/09 11:35 PM

Stephen the Minion Blur in one of his infamous PDD-NOS moments drowned my Sprint Rant in the family toilet. Look at him. Napping all innocent with Mike and Noah as if the death of my electronics never crossed his tiny little PDD-NOS mind. I have said it before and I will say it again. They may look innocent but don't let 'em fool you. Living with Autism and PDD-NOS is a trip (LOL).

If you are traveling to Massachusetts, New Haven is conveniently situated between Boston and New York. When I think about going to Boston I always think about stopping in New Haven to see my friends. I was blessed to enjoy a tweet-up with Dan Cummings, Sandra Cummings and Donna Bigda. Although it rained the entire day, we had a blast hanging out and I learned a considerable amount of new and fascinating information about my beloved blogging buddies (LOL).
We had the most marvelous dining experience at Modern … (13 comments)

Ad hoc can be a good thing. It was a pleasure to see so many of the people living in my computer in the same room enjoying the lovely spread and playing Pass the Nikon. It was my first REBar Camp and I am glad I participated in PA. I have a lot of family there and Susan Mangigian is always a lovely person to visit. tannstarr: Interesting Kindle Topic - 05/19/09 08:53 AM
http://blogs.zdnet.com/hardware/?p=4349&tag=nl.e550
This quote got me thinking about my ADA clients and my learning disabled kids:
"We know that there exists a kill-switch for the text-to-speech feature that allows publishers to disable the feature for specific titles. While this feature protects the publisher’s ability to control how content is distributed, it sucks for people who really wanted this feature. If there’s one kill-switch, it’s likely that Amazon, and publishers, have other kill-switches at their disposal. Personally, I’d be uncomfortable with so many players having the ability to remotely tinker with my Kindle."
I was actually considering getting one for the boys to … (8 comments)

tannstarr: Sleep? Who needs sleep? We don't need no stinkin' sleep... We're Social Media Realtors - 04/18/09 09:39 AM
The fun thing about the Internet is that it crosses every time zone. On a good day, if you pace yourself just right, it may appear that you seem to be everywhere at once. Did I mention I work in 20 minute intervals? I do you know. That works for me. I have very self directed little people, so I have to stay on my toes and trade places with the hubby chasing the wee ones around a very small apartment. They can do a lot of damage in a small space (LOL). Can't take your eyes off of them for … (10 comments)

The fun thing about taking your kids to work with you is they have a way of bringing a new perspective to what might otherwise be a routine day. My little Realtors-in-training are both coping with learning disabilities so I try to include them in as many life activities as possible to give them real world perspective. I guess all kids can do strange things.
Remember the Blur Minion's attempt at toasting our cell phones? Boys being boys, Hubby has been hooking them up with some interesting Manly-man projects to keep them busy. Now it seems that my … (43 comments)

Here's a curious little site that caught my attention that you guys may find interesting. Here's the quote that made me poke around for a while: "The National Association of Real Estate Consultants® was founded in 1999 to assist real estate professionals in re-framing their focus as real estate consultants to better meet the needs of today's savvy consumer."
What does that mean? I'm still trying to figure it all out but they seem a pretty positive group. They state they have "consumer-focused training tools like the Consumer-Certified Real Estate Consultant® (C-CREC®) designation..."
Hmm... I only want a CCIM but … (18 comments)

Today, I shall share two points of order and will make no opinions regarding the quotes. BTW, these little snippets of New York state  information can be found on government websites (if you care to look for it) and I am simply going to provide two quotes from here.

I always love sketching the Brooklyn Bridge. Music and art always makes me happy. I've had a lot on my mind lately, so I'm trying to take a break and play with my toys. I'm working on an attitude adjustment. This may take a while... I'll probably be creating some interesting stuff while I have a little blog therapy with my friends...
