The American Dream Downpayment Initiative program is back. ADDI, as it is known, allows prospective home buyers to receive a forgivable grant of between $10,000.00 and $25,000.00 to help with the purchase of a single family home. Happy July 1st ! We are halfway through a very interesting year. For all the predictions of gloom and doom in the real estate arena, everything seems to be OK for most people involved in real estate. We just received the OK from the Veterans Administration to allow the American Dream Downpayment Initiative money to be used in conjunction with VA. VA has always allowed 100% financing but looked for the veteran to cover their own closing costs and prepaid items or ask the seller to help out.With (1 comments)

We have been working with a client that is able to take advantage of the ALPHABET SOUP of mortgage programs: CHFA-PMI-ADDI-UR. That mouthful means the first mortgage is coming from Connecticut Housing Finance Authority. The insurance on the loan is coming from Genworth, a private mortgage insurance company. Tha ADDI program administered by Eastern Connecticut Housing Opportunities has been helping prospective home buyers in New London County. The program is making $10,000.00 -$25,000.00 available to borrowers that need assistance with downpayment and closing costs. If the borrower stays in the home for 5 years the ADDI grant is forgiven.
