I was at the grocery store the other day when a distribution company was switching out all of the real estate books for the month. I was shocked to see that the number of new books versus the number of old books were virtually identical.
Is anyone reading books anymore? Are Moms with screaming kids going to stop and pick up a book at the grocery store? Is the drunk at the liquor store going to buy a house tomorrow - He can call you on the pay phone with your information he just got form that Publication youve invested money into? How about the bar hoppers at IHOP and Denny's...are these guys ready to make a big purchase - they can find you in the book while they eat their omlette at 3am?
Just because your name and face are in a publication and that publication has a "circulation" of 10000 doesnt maen it is hitting your target market.
Spend money to get people to your website - this is where 80% of people are winding up at one point or another.
Track your stats for a few months to see just how many people are finding you as a result of the books. You definetly will have some - but find out where they got the book from. If you build this statistical compilation you will have alot of information to provide to your publication distributor about where books work and where they dont.
