knoxville real estate: The Search for The Good Deal - 01/15/11 05:13 PM
In the past year or two I have noticed an interesting trend, when asking buyer clients what they are looking for in a home often times the #1 response I get is "a good deal". Then they usually follow up with their desired number of bedrooms, features they like, and then usually end the conversation with "but mostly I am looking for a good deal". While sure everyone would like to get a good deal, I mean who wouldn't, is this really the most important thing to look for when you are picking out a home for yourself or your family.

knoxville real estate: Energy Bills across the United States - 09/21/09 12:25 PM
The other day I attended a Green Building Design class and the instructor brought up a great point. He asked for a show of hands to tell him how much a gallon of gas cost....most everyone raised their hand and knew the answer. Then he asked how much we pay for a KWh of energy- hardly anyone raised their hand. In East TN we are lucky to have relatively low energy costs- just about $.084 /Kwh. Other areas are not so lucky. knoxville real estate: How to Buy a Home in Knoxville, TN - Step 4 - Researching Comps & Preparing The Offer - 08/23/09 08:10 PM
You've been pre-approved, you've researched your neighborhoods, you've determined your wants and needs and you have found the house you want to buy. So what happens next? The first thing to do is have your real estate agent research the comparable sales from the past 3-6 months. Based on the recent sales

knoxville real estate: How To Buy a Home in Knoxville, TN - Step 3 - Determining Your Wants and Needs - 08/21/09 10:16 PM
Congratulations on taking the first steps by getting pre-approved and researching your neighborhoods. You are now ready to seriously start looking at homes. The first thing you should do is come up with a list of wants and needs. It's important to differentiate the two. Your "needs" are the aspects of a home that you won't compromise on - your "must haves". For example, you may have to have a minimum of 3 bedrooms, at least a 2 car garage or it must be zoned for a particular school. Your "wants" are the things that you would be willing to compromise
